So this will be all forgotten when we beat Millwall

Sat Sep 18, 2010 11:10 pm

Well for a start we need to beat Millwall. So if we do, do you think it will all be forgotten. Lets just look back at last season.

This time last season we lost to QRP 2-0 then Sheff Wed 3-1. 2 of the worst performances we have ever had. We then beat Derby 6-1, perhaps our Millwall game this season. We had a good October but then went into November losing 3 out of 4 including against the Jacks.

Feb going into Mar we lost 4 out of 5 games before going on a run to get us into the POs.

Jones complained about our inconsistancy last season. Wonder if he has learnt the lesson this season. He has been given the resources to has he not. Suppose time will tell.

Not one manager in this division could cope with four or five of their best players
out. I doubt Man United could

DJ claimed we had strength in depth. I would have expected us to have handled Leicester on Tuesday and Ipswich yesterday going on that statement with 5 top players out going on that statement. DJ is starting to remind me of the Ridder, PR spin. Riddler said we were a stable club only to nearly go out of business. DJ claiming we have strength in depth. My fear is this guy will screw up our promotion this season.

Get everyone fit and we will take some stopping. Olofinjana is a huge miss at the moment and Bellamy just being in the starting lineup causes opponents nightmares. By the way can we stop Wales playing Bellamy for 90 mins when he made it clear he could'nt manage a full game yet. I dread the next internationals in october.

Ian, I can see what your saying about Jones using the excuses too liberally, but it's not as if he signed these players knowing they'd get crocked. If Oli and Bothroyd had played against Leicester we'd have won that game, you and I both know that as we were both there!

And we're missing the Championship's leading striker in Chopra, and the best player at Manchester City too.

How many games have we played this season?

Where are we in the table?

As it is, we are as good as last season. Fact.

We have a decent squad and will be able to cope with the odd injury at a time but to lose 5 of the best is impossible.

The main four most influential and important players are Olofinjana, Bothroyd, Bellamy and Chopra, so to lose the lot is cruel, but hopefully won't happen again this season.

When we lost Chopra on his own we were fine, but we can't afford to lose all four and McNaughton.

Watch the players come back and the Bluebirds fly, QPR will get some injuries soon, the cloggers will traget Mackie and Taarabt, lets see how they cope :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

bad thing for us is not only do we have 5 main players out but with all the bellamy stuff its put us in the team everyone really wants to beat and will raise their game against us..

I think the key to our disappointing last few games is the loss of Olifanjano and Drinkwater.

We saw against Hull that without Drinkwater, despite us not being at our best, with Oli there we could manage a win. Once he and Drinkwater were both missing we struggled.

At Pompey Drinkwater was every bit as good as Oli and adds that extra dynamism. It's just unfortunate that we've had so many key players out at the same time, if one of Oli and Drinkwater is back on Saturday I fully expect a better performance, if both are back then Millwall had better look out :ayatollah:

Sorry, but I think thats ridiculous. We do have a lot more strength in depth than last season
but how could ANY manager easily cope with losing five key players at once. Leicester and Ipswich
will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season, they are both promotion rivals. So what your
saying is a team like Chelsea could lose Terry, Lampard, Essien, Drogba and Anelka and still beat
Man Utd? Really??

When he said he was confident that we had strength in depth, he never said "ive got a second eleven
just as good as the first one" did he??

To be honest, your statement "he has been given the resources" says it all... It was Dave Jones that went
out and got all these players in, nobody else. Its not like he was sat in his kitchen moaning groaning and
being miserable all summer while TG and Jenkins were scouring the country for players is it?

I dont like Dave Jones.

But lets face it. He cannot win no matter what he does here.

Well from what I have seen in the last two games with our "strength in depth" players I find DJ statement ridiculous.

I'm getting pissed off with people using the fact we had 5 players out. Regardless who is out if we have a "strength in depth" squad then we should be able to produce a team that is capable of putting up a fight. Most of those guys played in the team that got us to a PO final and that is why DJ came out with the statement. Last season with that team we would have expected alot more than a schoolboy performance. So why are people accepting this now and hiding behind the injuries?

Regarding Chelsea losing Drogba and gang well we are not playing Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U are we? We played Leicester and please tell me who they have beaten this season?

The last 2 games questions have to be asked of the current back 4 , is it good enough ? When CCFC are at full strength then we are more attacking and not so much pressure on the defence BUT when we lose our attacking options we become a 45 minute team . The defence need to concentrate 100% for ALL matches and learn to dig deep when things get tough !

I think the last two defeats have been down to the lack of protection of the defence from midfield. Olofinjana in the side sitting in front of the back 4, 3 clean sheets in a row.
