Although there were a couple of slightly bigger terraces, i believe that if you stood at the centre back of the bob bank, it was the furthest away you could be from the pitch in the league- excluding those with tracks around them.

That's interesting and would make sense. I know there were several notable 'facts' about Ninian Park down the years

Two that spring to mind were the floodlights were the most modern in the league when they were erected and the pitch itself was only bettered by Wembley in its total size

Is that building at the very bottom of the image the old social club that was situated behind the Canton Stand?

I think Maine Road was acknowledged as having the largest pitch

I think its approximately where it was but i have a feeling it must have been rebuilt as it seems too old. As an aside I recall a story that Helen Morgan from Barry came fourth in Miss Bluebird which was held i believe in that club. A few years later she won Miss World. The three who beat her must have been stunners!!

Thanks, it was difficult to tell if it was the building

The other girls must have been stunners...! :thumbright:

I recall the Helen Morgan Miss World win and what happened next; but only because my late father had connections to the car trade and knew the boyfriend ;)
