MY VIEW: STEVE MORISON RETURNED TO HIS FORMER CLUB MILLWALL

Sat Feb 12, 2022 4:54 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

STEVE MORISON RETURNED TO HIS FORMER CLUB MILLWALLWITH MILLWALL EVENTUALLY TOOK THE 3PTS COMFORTABLE DESPITE OVER ALL BEING AN EVEN GAME

Rubin Colwill was replaced by Eli King on the Cardiff bench.

Colwill was out for the warm-up, so can only assume it's an enforced change.

Today for me City switched off twice , and a reality check has happened.

Cardiff should of got a point from this shall we say boring game, but sloppiness in the 2nd half cost them dearly.

FIRST-HALF: Quite boring, nothing really happened , Millwall just about edged, a pretty uneventful first half 0-0.

SECOND-HALF: Much better half, But 73rd min, against the run of play, Wallace free header 1-0   Awful defending  Millwall then went on to take the 3pts with a 2nd goal

MILLWALL 2 CARDIFF CITY 1
H-T 0-0

Cardiff City: Smithies; Drameh, Ng, Flint, McGuinness, Bagan; Wintle, Ralls (c), Doyle; Hugill, Harris

Subs: Phillips, Denham, Pack, Vaulks, Colwill, Davies, Ikpeazu

Quite boring, nothing really happened , Millwall just about edged, a pretty uneventful first half 0-0.

H-T 0-0

54th: Sub for Cardiff as Davies is on for Harris.

Harris did a few runs, but not good enough in my opinion.

60th min: Some class by Bagan :bluebird: :bluebird:

Bagan went around a couple of Millwall players so easy :ayatollah:

Brilliant run by Bagan, who sold a dummy to two Millwall players before turning into trouble.

He won a corner, which was is delivered in towards Hugill, whose bullet header is just over the bar.

Cardiff took control of the game.

69th min: Double change for Millwall.

Burke and Mitchell are replaced by Bennett and Saville.

73rd min, against the run of play, Wallace free header 1-0

75th min: Doyle makes way for Vaulks.

Ikpeazu on for Cardiff now, He replaced Hugill.

82nd min: GOAL! Millwall 2-0 Cardiff City (Bennett)
Cardiff fail to prevent Saville's cross and Bennett raises above Drameh to bundle home.

90th min Bagan scored :bluebird: :bluebird:

One word "looked tired", well maybe that's two words...

That was a reality check today. There was too much celebrating mid-week as if we have done the job and avoided relegation. We haven't. We remain a very average team at best and for me Morison has not proved himself yet. I think we need to be patient with our young two premier league stars. Doyle was poor today but this is why he is on loan and its a good experience for him. The back five have improved in recent games but defensively the two goals today were shocking. Move on quickly but lets not have any more celebrating until avoiding relegation is mathematically a certainty. A huge job remains.

Made no effort first half.
Ref made a howler in not awarding a penalty.
Defensive errors for both goals.
Bringing on the limited Vaulks ended the contest as we had nobody quick in midfield.
Millwall as usual a horrible team to play against; the ref wasn’t good or strong enough.
A reality check for Morison.

Poor result, even game should have taken a point.

All teams below us lost except Barnsley who will never catch us. Games running out for them all but we do need I would say another 3 wins. We could do with taking points from these sort of games though.

We are never going to go the rest of the season unbeaten. Looked tired. We move on.

Dissapointing result. Especially as we could have extended the gap from the bottom three. But, at least no one gained any points on us apart from Barnsley.

Dissapointing but we can't afford to dwell on it. We move onto the next game.

Really? I didn’t see the game today but you think we’re going to lose or draw all remaining games?

I agree games like this should be nailed on for a point at least.

No. I said. We're never going to go unbeaten. Opposite. We will lose some. Today was one of those days. Luckily, we are improving. We will win and draw some too. We'll be OK.

Hugills missed header really was a sitter

Behind the keeper and got high enough only to put it above the crossbar

Cardiff fans sang till the end fair play

I watched the game this morning and I agree there was nothing between the teams and it looked all over that the first goal would win it, that could have been us if the referee had given the penalty, but Millwall got it so hey ho we move on.

I think this season will more than likely require a record low number of points to be safe from relegation, currently 41 points, but the teams below need to win half their remaining games to reach 40 so I think your right we are 3 wins from safety.

2 home wins this week will be a massive step to safety.

Are starting 11 was fine but our bench is weak vaulks and pack are hardly going to change the game and are so unispiring
this is another reason i would like colwill to be more involved and up to speed
so we are not just left with vaulks and pack as the only options
and the only way to get experiance is to be playing in the 1st team on a more regular basis fitness should not be a problem for an 18 year old so regular. on and off the bench or starting and giving 45 mins.
