Possession stats verses Peterborough

Thu Feb 10, 2022 2:09 pm

For those who pay attention to these no sensical stats, Peterborough had almost 70 percent possession last night and a far better passing accuracy. And yet they were completely outplayed in the most one sided game seen at the stadium since Man City destroyed us in the Premier.

Just goes to show what a nonsense they are.

Yep the big thing was our pressing, it meant they had the ball but, most of the time, were going nowhere enabling us to pounce when they lost it.

I was unwell so watched on IFollow with Posh commentators who were very good.
They basically said we were calling them on, when they lost the ball from our press in numbers, bang - we hit them.
They also said something interesting re Wintle. Apparently the main reason for his Blackpool loan move was because when he was out of the side his wife was going through a pregnancy and asked if he could move back up to be near her as she was struggling.

The pressing reminded me a lot of the early games in our promotion season when we took apart Villa, Sheff Utd and Leeds and won up at Wolves.
