We must play colwill for the rest of the season in place of vaulks there is no comparison
colwill is streets ahead of vaulks in his
vision skill and goal scoring
i just cannot fathom why morrison keeps saying about cowills fitness
but i would have colwill every day and vaulks can go to cymru alliance shocking and can take his long throw with him nearly red carded again today.

Colwill before Vaulks but Wintle, Ralls and Doyle before them imo.

Its what his position, he is a bit unique.
To me he is a forward and not a midfielder, but for him to play that we need to totally reject the long ball as out principle tactic and that ain't happening this season.
We need an amazing February to allow us to try a few things.

Agree with you 62! Colwill is more of a luxury player, doesn’t really put a shift that you expect off a CM. Unfortunately for Colwill he doesn’t fit into our current style with what we’ve seen of him so far.
Sun Feb 06, 2022 2:05 pm
Yes agree but colwill should alternate between one of those 3 he needs to play the lad has great vision and finish and i don' t want to see him playing at another club

Colwill to me is an attacking midfielder bit like steve gerrard pushing forward from midfield so they need to work it out on the trainning ground rather than just leave him in the reserves and keep puting pack and vaulks on the bench.

Monty boy I think you should trust the manager.
Colwill may not be fully fit or match fit. He also has put his best performances in as a sub so far. At his age I think it’s right not to play him every game like your suggesting but I agree, I’d like to see more of him.
I also think he’s an attacking midfield player.

I don’t actually agree colwil is a luxury player. He LOOKS like one as he has a rather laid back appearance on the pitch with how he runs and presents himself. Bit like now in rugby times, the likes of Gavin Henson in his prime were portrayed as the same thing.
However they work hard and have superb basic skills.
Colwil is just starting out and learning the mens game. That means he still needs to add to his all around performance. But he’s not a luxury. He could well fit I. To this team and I’m sure Morison knows that but is trying to develop him more. Davies js a different position and type of player. He’s a fast attacking forward. Does what he says on tbr tin. So is easier to slot him in. Arguably colwil would have more responsibility and as such needs more careful handling

I agree i like morrison as manger so no problem there
but i just cannot see him behind vaulks and pack on the bench he needs to be worked into the team with his vision skill and finish
his fitness should not be a problem

Vaulks again with a reckless challenge gave away the free kick and Jota scored. Full credit to the team a gallent effort. Let's move on climb the league. Plenty of talent in squad for next season.

Vaulks is totally different kind of player who is deployed in a different role.
I would have liked to have seen him start today but have some patience. People have mentioned his fitness but maybe he's not mentally ready either and Morrison has decided to take him out of the limelight to take some pressure off.

Also can’t under estimate how well he keeps hold of the ball rather than just giving it back to the opposition.
I’ve always thought of him as an attacking midfielder or a 10 and just needs to play through the middle - two often he has been given 10/15 minutes in games and stuck out on the left. He doesn’t have the pace out there, but has the feet and vision to make something happen in the middle - he started that move to by winning the ball and then playing a great ball FORWARD around the corner outside of his boot. He then made sure he was always there for Davies rather that just admiring the pass and a brilliant finish (good ball back from Davies as well).
At this stage, Colwill should be on the bench as back up to Doyle and we have one of Vaulks or Pack to close games out rather than both.

I thought Vaulks did ok today, it was his sort of game. He is a limited defensive midfielder in the converted centre half mould rather than the snuffer out of problems and keep things ticking over type.
No one should be behind Pack in the pecking order, he was never my favourite but he is a passenger nowadays
I think to maximise Rubin we need to get rid of the target man idea and use speed either side of him in a 3 up top
I think we need to look at the team we played today as the model. Jota or Firmino are not target men and drop to get the ball, but they have two wide forwards who use speed rather than strength to go for the jugular.
We can't do that this season with our current squad

Agreed with this.
Would also say I wouldn't want Colwill starting in physical games like we had at Barnsley in the week.
He's a good player to bring on who can make the difference but the physical work that Doyle, Wintle, Ralls and even Vaulks do should not be replaced with the luxury of Colwill.

The problem for players like Colwil is we'll spend more time talking about the stuff he doesn't do well and take for granted the stuff he can do like scoring goals.
I don't even think he is an attacking midfielder, i think he come alive in the top third and progressively switches off the further he drops. He'll end up like Whitts, slated because he doesn't get stuckin mum.
I think he is a forward who will continually evolve. If we play him as a AM then we sacrifice a genuine CM or the speed to go with the target man.
Our squad is set up for 532. He is only vying for one of the two up top, but does not have the speed to stretch the field. So he needs to be the main man and that will be a leap of faith for SM although if we have a good February that isn't such a jump

Years ago Kevin Davies at Chesterfield. They said he’s a winger, midfielder, inside forward but he developed physically and got a good career out of being a solid centre forward.
Sun Feb 06, 2022 6:57 pm
I’ve been banging on about how ineffective and anonymous Vaulks has been for ages.
However a simple swap for Colwill doesn’t work.
Colwill is like a Jordan Mutch player and needs freedom but in a midfield 3 that won’t work as that leaves just 2 there which leaves too much of a gap.
Now if as I have wanted all season if we have a back 4, with just one wing back then that frees up a midfield spot for Colwill to sit behind the top 2 and in front of the midfield 3.
That would give him so much opportunity to raid into the opposition area.
Take his goal today as an example as the winner also v Forest.
Also Isaac Davies needs to start; bringing him on in a second half is a waste.

Thought Vaulks was OK today. No worse than any of the other midfielders. Put in a shift.
Like others say, Colwill is a different player, I see him as a 10 or CAM. Not out wide and not deep (like Vaulks) where he'll have to do the dirty work.
