MY VIEW " STEVE MORISON'S YOUNG BLUEBIRDS GAVE THEIR ALL "

We played a young team and they gave their all against a strong Liverpool team. We were just ultimately outclassed.

Massive game on Wednesday against Peterborough now :thumbright:

Steve Morison stuck to his word and made several changes for our trip to Liverpool in the FA Cup, with four academy players starting. Liverpool named a very strong team.

Phillips, Ng, McGuinness, Flint, Denham, Bagan, Vaulks, King, Pack, Harris, Collins

Dillon Phillips made a good save to deny Diogo Jota from close range in the 4th minute

Takumi Minamino had the ball in the net in the 9th minute but there was an offside in the build up

Mark Harris looked to have been brought down in the penalty box by Ibrahima Konate but the referee and VAR didn't give anything

Moments later, Harris put a low cross into the box but nobody could get on the end of it

Will Vaulks shot wide from the edge of the box in the 24th minute. Liverpool had a penalty appeal in the build up but nothing was given by the referee or VAR

Curtis Jones should have given Liverpool the lead in the 34th minute but shot over

Roberto Firmino had a good chance in the 36th minute but headed wide

HT: LIVERPOOL 0-0 CARDIFF CITY

Caoimhin Kelleher was booked in the 46th minute for bringing down Mark Harris outside the box. VAR checked for a red card but chose not to upgrade it

Will Vaulks was booked in the 52nd minute

Jota headed Liverpool into the lead from Trent Alexander-Arnold's free kick in the 53rd minute

Firmino headed straight at Phillips in the 55th minute

Isaak Davies and Jordan Hugill replaced Mark Harris and James Collins in the 58th minute

Jota should have made it 2-0 on the 60th minute but shot wide

Minamino made it 2-0 in the 68th minute, following a mistake by Perry Ng

Tommy Doyle and Rubin Colwill replaced Will Vaulks and Eli King in the 69th minute

Harvey Elliott made it 3-0 in the 76th minute

Colwill made it 3-1 following a brilliant counter attacking move in the 79th minute

Jai Semenyo replaced Perry Ng in the 92nd minute

FT: LIVERPOOL 3-1 CARDIFF CITY

Overall I’m pleased with what’s happened today especially with the slightly worrying team selection.Let’s face it most of us thought we were in for a mauling today and that never happened.
The biggest thing today was no injuries, some youngsters got a bit of valuable experience and our fans did us proud.

Roll on Wednesday :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

I think the team and Steve Morison did us proud today and you have to say SM despite picking a young and inexperienced team had a plan and the team delivered it for him, but for the silly mistake by NG, we were still in the game at 68 minutes and that's an enormous credit to SM and ALL the players today.

Ultimately we were outclassed but no one could argue we scored the best goal and it takes a lot the keep the Liverpool fans quiet but for most of that game you could only hear the Cardiff fans.

That speak volumes.

Me neither but he looks a decent prospect.
