For me you look at Virgil van Dijk, you appreciate the best people in the world especially in my position. It will be nice to see the level of where I’d like to be.

Will you get a shirt?





I’m sure there'll be a few getting a shirt. But at the end of the day it’s a football match. Another game in a competition we’d like to do well in. Going in on the back of back-to-back results, there is some confidence there. It’s one we’re really looking forward to.

It was a typical scrap. The performance obviously wasn’t amazing, but the three points is the most important. I think Anfield will be a very different game. I’m sure the pitch will be immaculate. Like playing on carpet.

Any fear?




It’s an opportunity to play against top players. I’m sure there will be lots of people watching us, and it’s a chance to showcase yourself. What better place to do it than at Anfield.

The fans?


The fans have been amazing this season. We haven't had the best of starts, but the home support and away has been incredible.

Bit of uncertainty - how do you feel about moving on with the rest of the season?




Massive boost. It’s a different feel. New faces give us a boost anyway and gives us a base to showcase ourselves at Liverpool and kick on. The league is the most important, but this is a chance, not to take a break, but to go out and express ourselves.

Could the impossible happen?




Of course. We want to win. We want to beat them. We know they’re a top side, but with the squad we’ve got we feel we can go there and give them a right good game.

Fear on their side perhaps?




I’m sure there’s a lot more pressure on them. Players will be trying to get back into fitness and into their squad. We’re underdogs in this situation but we’re really looking forward to it.

Best upset you can remember?




I don’t know. I’ve not been around that long!

What is it about Virgil you like?




He’s a top defender. He wouldn’t be seen as the best defender in the world if there wasn’t something about him. He has all the aspects I strive to be. You have to appreciate talent and he’s one of the best in the world, so I’m looking forward to seeing him in action.

Your game has improved?



It’s been a bit up and down. There are bits I want to improve on. I’ve learned a lot over the last six months or however long it’s been. I am improving and that’s the most important thing.

Goals from set pieces? One on Sunday would be nice.




Yeah. I might need to work on my celebration. It’s something I've been working on. I’d like to get more. I’ll work on something if I score.

Captain next season for me

Really like McGuinness he has barely put a foot wrong and just has that look of a future captain about him. He has been a great signing.

I'm sure he'd make a good skipper. If we get Doyle for another year he'd be another candidate imo.
