Vincent Tan been in touch? Steve Morison

Vincent Tan been in touch?

“We get on well, everything goes through Transfer Committee, then Tan, there’s been a couple where he said no.”

STEVE MORISON:

"Not yet. That comes on the Sunday morning or Saturday night! But he’s been great, especially this last month, ever since I’ve taken over. Constant conversations. Constant dialogue, especially with the transfers with the players we’ve brought in."

"It’s everyone we’ve brought in goes through the transfer committee, but ultimately it ends with the committee agreeing and then me having a conversation with Vincent on it."

"The conversation could be five minutes, it could be 20 minutes. It’s all about the how, why and where they fit in, and then he gives us the green light off the back of it. There’s been a couple where he’s said no."

"That’s the way it is. Then I have to maybe put more work in and explain it to him. But no he’s backed me with every single player we’ve wanted and funnily enough we got them. Apart from waiting for Giles with that not happening and then Alfie waiting in the background. "

"Every player I’ve taken to Vincent and the board, everyone agreed to it that were involved. He’s backed me on it, and that’s been great. It’s been a real easy experience."

"The frustrating thing is having that all agreed and then waiting for the other teams to agree for their players to come. But from his point of view, he’s been fantastic and it’s been really enjoyable. I spoke to him after the Barnsley game last night and everyone’s pleased. Another game we won and another new signing scored!"

That's really encouraging

I don't see Tan bringing in players or tinkering with team selection with this report

Quite an honest speech by Morison, Committee everything goes through them, then to Tan, no money spent and tan only said no to a couple of signings .

I'm not sure he said a final 'no', as SM states he went back and got all the players he wanted 'eventually' other than Ryan Giles

I have read the press conference on Wales on line but can't see anywhere where Morison mentions money - is this quoted somewhere else??

Annis, we done good business. It doesn't have to be twisted constantly to be anti-tan.

I've never been a fan of his but don't understand every excuse to knock him - even a positive window and relationship with the manager.

You won’t find anywhere where Morison says the players brought in was cost neutral as quite clearly they wouldn’t be.

Five players brought in. Much bigger wages than the players who left.

Murphy and Whyte were already away. The players that left in January are all low wages. Probably Sang highest wage maybe 4K a week. I doubt St Johnstone are covering all of that.

Unless something is crazy and Hereford and Linfield are forking out big money for Patten and Evans.

Yes fair comment good point. I think that it was a good transfer window. Obviously it would have been great to sign Dramah Doyle and Doughty but that was never a realistic optuon. I have an open mind about the two strikers (Hugill not rated at all at WBA). But I think this song sums.up our “window”.

Not pedantic at all.

I’ve read they didn’t cost anything so not beyond the realm someone might think they didn’t sign at all. :)

Nobody is denying that. What people are saying is Tan never spent a penny where some are saying Tan has invested. Well it loos like he has not invested at all this transfer window.

New Team Assesment :

First let me say that we will not be relegated this season - forget it !

Secondly I want to say that I am excited about our totally new look team which Steve Morison has assembled with NO MONEY - in fact with negative money (because we sold our ,arguably , our most valuable player).

I am excited because we have a lot of question marks on a lot of our very new look team with a totally new approach to the way we play. So we do not know yet ….but personally I feel positive ….fingers crossed.

If I am not wrong - I believe that the following new players will feature regularly in the heart of our team : Drameh , Doughty , Wintle , Ikpeazu and Hugil (with Collins who is also newly introduced challenging for a place). SIX totally new players introduced to a totally new team ….five on loan with Wintle as good as new.

# I trust Smithies in goal .

# I believe that our new defensive structure will be the trio Morrison , McGuinness and NG - have more pace and better ball control than what we had previously…… and two of them can play football. I am excited to see how this defensive setup will pan out.

# Our two wingbacks are two young kids who have hardly played many games and are not yet tried ….but they come with good pedigree. They can definately play and run all day ….but they still have to prove that they can cut the mustard. Did our manager pick well ? Exciting ! A 100% new wingback look.

# Our midfield looks like Doyle , Wintle and Ralls . I believe that the young unproven Doyle will do the business . I believe that Eintle will work hard and come up trumps. Ralls is consistent and hard working and can hold his position well and will not let us down ….. but zI believe that both he and our worthy captain Morrison will have to be bettered (eventually). I am excited about our new look midfield.

# Up front we have a totally new formation …. as it looks likely that we will play 2 up . They are also new ….. Hugil and Ikpeazu with Collins challenging. There are others of course who can fill in . The common thing is that they will all work work and work for 90 minutes.

Conclusion : I AM EXCITED !! New look team with a new style of play !! We can not possibly predict if Steve Morison has pulled a rabbit out of the hat … or … hmmm….messed up …… but personally I believe the former.

Correct , Soot on Ian.

And I proved it with the 9 players who went out and the sale of Kieffer Moore.

Come on mate nothing has been proven.

The 9 players out includes Murphy and Whyte still being gone. Wintle and Watters back so now paying their full wages.

The other 7 are low earners whose clubs aren’t in the position to cover all their wages. None of those are on more than 4k a week I would suggest. (Sang and Brown). Also wasn’t it said some of the under 23 squad are on 150 quid a week?

Whereas 3 of the 5 players we brought in are premier league players. Doyle must be on 15k a week at least so 40% of that is 6k. Hugill was at West Ham and then Norwich. He’s gotta be on 20k and we are covering a reasonable percentage of that. Certainly West Brom would have been. Drameh likely to be on 10k a week and again we are covering a percentage. Ichu and Doughty are likely on 8-10k a week and we must be paying a high percentage of those wages.

No way we haven’t increased the budget.

Keifer Moore is irrelevant really as we signed 4 before he left. What if he failed medical? We couldn’t send the 4 back.

It’s clear there has been money spent. There needed to be because of the mess we were in that was Tan’s doing.

I've never been a fan of his but don't understand every excuse to knock him - even a positive window and relationship with the manager.

Absolutely 109%. The anti tan is boring. We did very well in this window imo and morrison hot players he wants to fit the style... Put the anti tan shit to bed and acknowledge they actually signed well. Credit where credit is due

Nobody is denying that. What people are saying is Tan never spent a penny where some are saying Tan has invested. Well it loos like he has not invested at all this transfer window.

I am going to state again, We have not spent a penny in this transfer and that is 100% a fact.

You would disagree no matter what I posted.

Absolutely wouldn’t Annis and you know that in reality.

I don’t disagree with you for the sake of it. I actually agree with a lot of what you say.

Haven’t spent a penny. Are we paying 0 to these loan signings then?

Neil,

I’m in Liverpool at moment watching City, I have explained already on previous topics

If you want to continue, Spk to me in Anfield.

Last thing, I also forgot to mention We are also saving £12,000 a week wages on Moore.
