STEVE MORISON:

Alfie and Moz

I don’t know. Alfie was having a scan at one but looking at the picture of it, it’s not pretty. Touch wood, but I'm not holding out much hope. Sean’s got a scan tonight.

Vincent Tan?

"It’s everyone we’ve brought in goes through the transfer committee, but ultimately it ends with the committee agreeing and then me having a conversation with Vincent on it. The conversation could be five minutes, it could be 20 minutes. It’s all about the how, why and where they fit in, and then he gives us the green light off the back of it. There’s been a couple where he’s said no."

"Every player I’ve taken to Vincent and the board, everyone agreed to with no money involved. He’s backed me on it, and that’s been great. It’s been a real easy experience."

Two wins in a week - best since you took over?

It makes the week easier. Everyone’s got more of a smile on their face and more relaxed. Sets us up to enjoy the weekend a little more.

Morison

Things got heated after Barnsley heard anything more?

No. If you can’t celebrate a victory then what can you celebrate? It was nothing really. They don’t enjoy losing, they shouldn’t enjoy losing. Nothing actually happened. It was just a bit of a melee.

Loanees getting stuck in - wouldn’t condone behaviour that crosses the but to see buy-in encouraging?

Yeah it’s fantastic. It didn’t need to happen. I was celebrating with our fans like I do with every away game. It was fantastic to see the reaction of our players. It shows how tightly-knit a group we are.

Difficult to keep the team competitive - balance?

It’s always going to be difficult. Strange one, you can name 20 players because you can have nine subs as well. It’s a good opportunity to bring some players in. But it’s getting that balance right, keeping competitive. There’s so many positives to take home from the day.

Playing at one - if not the most - iconic stadiums in football. 8,000 Cardiff City fans, a full Kop. As a football player it doesn't get better than that. Some will be scared, some will be nervous and they should be. It’s about how well they control that. We know they're good football players. A lot of it comes down to controlling that emotion, the mental side of it on days like that. We'll do everything we can in the next couple of days to get them as well prepared as possible and see what happens on the day.

Cup-tied players - changes?

I was going to make changes anyway, but they’re somewhat enforced anyway.

Uche and Cody are both cup-tied so it's a really good opportunity to reward some of the younger players that have been tasked with looking after this football club over the last six months and trying to get them away from the bottom of the table.

Some of them may never get the chance to play again at Anfield and may get that extra urge of the back of it to say actually: 'This is where I want to play all my games of football'

It will be a great day. One we’re looking forward to.

Big buzz for the players and you - testing yourself against Klopp?

It’s fantastic. I made one of my dreams come true going there as a player. It will be a completely different environment for me. If we get some face-to-face time with the staff, I might make the plane wait going back!

About enjoying it?

They know what’s coming. You need to enjoy it. You can’t leave with regrets. From my experience as a player, it was different because it was a league game and we needed to get a result. We’ll see what happens but we’ve got some really, really talented players.

Mane not being available - will help?

Yeah. But they’ve got fantastic players. Mane not being there will be a plus, but we'll have to see what other 10 they’re going to pick!

Atmosphere will be incredible

It will be amazing. It’s going to be a great day for everyone involved. To be manager of this football club right now, it'll be a very proud moment. I’m sure the Cardiff fans will enjoy.

What does the FA Cup mean to you?

Couple of really good runs when I was at Millwall. Got to the quarter-finals one year. Met Spurs. But we’ve had a couple of good runs and a couple of terrible ones. That’s the beauty of the FA Cup.

Watching it as a kid, it was the one thing on TV because there weren’t league games on TV. It'll be great to be a part of. Winning those two games in the league has meant we can actually enjoy the day more. There’s a real feelgood factor around the football club right now.

More on playing at Anfield

We went there with Norwich. They had Suarez up top, Gerrard. We went 1-0 up and came away with a draw. It was great. The next three times we went Suarez decided he was going to score three hat-tricks. I wasn’t one for getting shirts or anything, I was focused on the game, but You’ll Never Walk Alone comes on and the hairs stand on your neck. I’m looking forward to being a part of that again.

Vincent Tan been in touch?

Not yet. That comes on the Sunday morning or Saturday night! But he’s been great, especially this last month, ever since I’ve taken over. Constant conversations. Constant dialogue, especially with the transfers with the players we’ve brought in.

"That’s the way it is. Then I have to maybe put more work in and explain it to him. But no he’s backed me with every single player we’ve wanted and funnily enough we got them. Apart from waiting for Giles with that not happening and then Alfie waiting in the background."

"Every player I’ve taken to Vincent and the board, everyone agreed to with no money involved. He’s backed me on it, and that’s been great. It’s been a real easy experience."

The frustrating thing is having that all agreed and then waiting for the other teams to agree for their players to come. But from his point of view, he’s been fantastic and it’s been really enjoyable. I spoke to him after the Barnsley game last night and everyone’s pleased. Another game we won and another new signing scored!

Ralls and Nelson knocks?

I don’t know. The text I had earlier from the physio was that I was going to get an update today or tomorrow morning on whether they’d be involved.

They’re literally only minor knocks but with the games coming up so thick and fast. With the Joe Ralls one, it was a question of, do we risk him for him to break down after an hour. I then lose him for two, three or four games, or do I take him out for one. The bigger disappointment is that we could have possibly lost Sean and Alfie for a sustained period. That will be tough for us to take because Sean’s is unavoidable, but the Alfie one is, well, if it happens on Sunday, he’s sent off. It’s a disgrace of a tackle. It is what it is, but it could affect us long-term

Transfers done - contract talks set to ramp up?

"I presume they will. One of the great things about the players out of contract is that because of the situation we’ve been in, and the situation we’re still in. No one’s bothered me with it. There’s been a couple of small conversations, but it’s difficult because I haven’t got a contract either. So for me to make a decision is tough. I could make a decision then I leave, and someone comes in and says by the way, I would have kept him. So it’s tough, but they’ve all totally understood that no one can really be sitting there, knocking on the door asking for a contract when we;re three points off the bottom three, because no one’s covered themselves in glory."

"Obviously Joe Ralls has been arguably the standout. For me, he’s top five in the Champ, and he’s top 5 when it comes to stats. He’s a fantastic player and one that I’m sure us and the football club will try and keep if it’s possible. Once you go into this situation it’s difficult because his destiny’s in his own hands really. If he turns round and says he doesn’t want to go anywhere it makes it easier, but if I’m saying he’s top five then others will be looking at him as well, I’m sure."

Liverpool receive huge boost

Liverpool duo Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliott are closing in on first-team returns ahead of this Sunday's FA Cup tie with Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds travel up to Anfield this weekend for the fourth-round clash with Jurgen Klopp's men looking to cause an upset.

Star forwards Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are away with the Africa Cup of Nations still, with both Senegal and Egypt having made it into the semi-finals of the tournament.

' Uche Ikpeazu on Cardiff move '

Cardiff City's newest goalscoring hero Uche Ikpeazu has revealed the telling advice he received from two of his Middlesbrough pals before he sealed his deadline-day move to south Wales.

The striker signed for City late on Monday following the departure of Kieffer Moore to Bournemouth after Steve Morison had chased him for a number of weeks.

Once he knew of Cardiff's interested, the 26-year-old leant on two former Bluebirds fan favourites in Sol Bamba and Lee Peltier, both of whom are now at Boro, to seek advice about the club.

And Ikpeazu revealed the glowing praise the 2018 promotion-winning duo had for the Welsh capital city club, a factor which no doubt helped convince the striker it was the perfect club for him.

"When I had the option of joining I wanted to do it," Ikpeazu said of his transfer to Cardiff.

"There has always been something about the club I always liked.

"Cardiff City are an amazing club and I love the stadium. I spoke to Sol Bamba and Lee Peltier and they said that Cardiff City are one of the best clubs they've ever played for.

"I want to help this team climb up the table. Cardiff City are one of the best teams in the Championship and should be higher up the division."
