Brown leant on Whyte and Nelson for Oxford advice

Ciaron Brown has revealed how Northern Ireland and Bluebirds team-mate Gavin Whyte played a key role in him making the loan move to Oxford United.

The left-sided defender, who has seven international caps to his name, sees his contract run out at the end of the season at Cardiff.

Morison said it was an opportunity for the 24-year-old to go out and play football and the player himself revealed it was Whyte and ex-Oxford star Curtis Nelson who persuaded him to make the move to the League One club.

“I obviously spoke to Gav and he just said ‘get yourself down here!’," Brown said.

“He told me how excited I’d be when I’m here and I’d enjoy it. I also spoke to Curtis and they had nothing but good things to say about the club.

“I’m just excited to be here and when I got the call I was over the moon.”
