‘Won’t play for Leeds again Article

Well, we saw a vintage Bielsa press conference earlier today ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with West Ham.

When asked about Drameh linking up with Steve Morison at Cardiff, the Argentine expressed his disappointed at the £1m man.

Bielsa revealed that he asked the 20-year-old to stay at Elland Road, as Leeds currently find themselves in the midst of an injury crisis.

However, Drameh ignored his manager’s plea, and opted to join the Bluebirds on loan in order to gain regular first-team football.

As quoted by Leeds Live, Bielsa said: “I did not think he needed to play games elsewhere. He was a player who was very necessary with all of the absences we have. He preferred to go and play outside of Leeds.

“In a situation where opportunities for youngsters has increased clearly, in this case, Drameh would prefer to experiment outside our team. What I imagined as a great opportunity, he imagined it in a different way. Clearly, I calculated things
Now, it’s quite obvious that the 66-year-old is far from happy with the England Under-21 international.

Of course, you can understand why Drameh wanted to leave, although given the circumstances, the young full-back has probably made an error of judgement here.
Cody Drameh should’ve stayed at Leeds

Bielsa has not calculated things incorrectly – we feel he is in the right, and Drameh has made a poor choice.

As we saw when Aaron Wan-Bissaka grabbed his chance with both hands amidst an injury crisis at Crystal Palace in 2018, these situations can be the making of young prospects.

The 24-year-old is now a £50m Premier League star.

Drameh recently played 90 minutes against Arsenal in the Premier League, so it’s not as if he was rotting away on the sidelines.

The London-born defender would learn far more from just being in and around a first-team environment in the Premier League than he will on loan at Cardiff, in our view.

Knowing Bielsa, Drameh’s decision to go against the Argentine could well be the beginning of the end for him at Elland Road.

That’s just very poor in-house communication at Leeds. Hopefully to our benefit!
