I dont think glatzel at half the price of Murphy should even be on this list, scored more than murphy in a fraction of the time here.and I was under the impression from Annis that glatzel was supposed to be one of our biggest earners, and was a reason for him being released?? At 12k a week that doesn't ring true tho! For me its Murphy!!

I got 12k from a quick browse. Maybe it was more? Based on what he did at Cardiff, whether through miss-management or not, makes the list  good record in Germany though :ayatollah:

I dont agree, but its your list! Cant bkame a player for mis management though! Yo uh wouldnt pick out a defender, if he was asked to play a totally different posistion would you? Warnock supposedly scouted him, watched him, but never realised a few months earlier, he was not a lone striker/target man, and paid 5m over his price from a few months earlier too? All opinion of course, but I stand by mine.

Price tag considered it's Murphy hands down.

If i could turn back the clock, i'd add Gary Madine, how cld i forget :banghead:
6m/3.5y/12k contract cancelled by mutual consent. Moneywise it's still Murphy :banghead:

Giving 4.5y contact to Bacuna was utter lunacy. Some of the best agents in the game worked in this deal, pulled Dalman's pants right down and gave his bare bottom a good slap such were the liberties taken on that fateful day. More liberties taken than covid :banghead:

Certainly not Glatzel - he would have come good in this system but Mccarthy dismissed without giving him any chance at all. He did OK under Harris and is was undoubtedly a better option than Collins.

I can't argue a case his career hasn't had an upward spike in form since leaving  :ayatollah:
There's prob something in the mitigating factors. Bad management, tactics. We know it, we watch the team play. Cmon lads smash those baggie bar stewards :ayatollah:

I still can't get over the fact he was bought to keep us in the prem. Even the Reading fans I know were baffled.

See my post about all the amazing signings made in the last two decades? Hardly a new thing.

None compare to Cornelius, fact.

Re: Worst recent signing?

People talk about the transfer committee but us shitting away money isn’t a new thing. In fact after the way Malky and Ole blew a lot of money no wonder a committee was formed. Certainly lately signings have been better than further back albeit less of them and more trust in the youth. As Sven says, an explanation as to why would be nice.

Anyway here are some of the ‘diamonds’ we have signed. There’s actually a gap where we signed some class for cheap. Dave Jones’ era. This was always when we barely had a pot to piss in.

Of course there were good signings made too around the below dross but I’m just showing that no one covers themselves in glory.

2000-01
David Hughes 630k
Gavin Gordon 360k

2001-02
Spencer Prior 900k

2002-03
Chris Barker 810k

2003-04
Alan Lee 1 million

Two year gap now

2006-07
Warren Feeney 100k
Jason Byrne 100k

2007-08
Fowler, JFH and Sinclair and their wages caused us to lose Ledley

2008-09
Skint again

2009-10
Chopra 4 million (2nd time was not the charm)
Gerrard 400k
Taiwo 200k

2010-11
Skint

2011-12
Kenny Miller 900k

2012-13
Kim Bo 2.8 million
Nicky Maynard 2.8 million
Eyeing Velikonja 1.8 million

2013-14
Andreas Cornelius 8 million
Peter Odemwingie 2.6 million
Theophile Catherine 2.25 million
John Brayford 1.5 million

2014-15
Adam Le Fondre 2.8 million
Adeyemi 1.1 million
Doyle 900k

2015-16
Cutbacks

2016-17
Lex Immers 2 million

2017-18
Gary Madine 6 million
Lee Tomlin 2 million
Danny Ward 1.5 million
Omar Bogle 700k

2018-19
Bacuna 3 million
Cunningham 3 million

2019-20
Glatzel 5 million
Vassell 1 million

Well hecis averaging a goal every other game for hamburger v this yr, not bad at all.so could say he jas had an upward turn, or he is getting far better service where he is? Either way, hsrdly a shoddy scoring ratio.
