Scott Parker issues fitness update

Bournemouth boss Scott Parker has revealed Lloyd Kelly will come into the squad for the Cardiff City clash but a late call will be made on Junior Stanislas.

Kelly missed the Boxing Day clash with QPR as he recovered following a bout of Covid-19.

Stanislas, meanwhile, had a knock after the game with the Rs but Parker is hopeful he will be fit to play.

“Lloyd Kelly is back in the squad,” Parker said.

“He comes out of that isolation period and everyone else has come out of the game OK. We’ve had a few bumps and bruises but nothing more than that.

“Junior Stanislas had a bit of an issue with his shoulder after the game, he trained lightly so let’s see how he reacts tomorrow morning. I see him being OK for the game though.”

Parker also confirmed the only member of Cherries' squad still in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19 is goalkeeper Will Dennis.

Bournemouth are looking to complete a league double over Cardiff for the first time since the 1999-00 season under Mel Machin.

Following a 2-1 win at the Vitality Stadium last season, Cardiff are looking to win consecutive away league games against Bournemouth for the first time.

Having been unbeaten in their first seven home league games this season (W5 D2), Bournemouth have now lost two of their last four at the Vitality Stadium (W1 D1).

Since beating Blackpool 2-0 in their first away league game this season, Cardiff haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 10 on the road. However, the Bluebirds are unbeaten in their last four away games in the Championship (W2 D2).

Bournemouth have lost their final league game in each of the last three calendar years. They’ve never done so in four consecutive years in their history in the top four tiers of English football

Let's hope the players don't have the same defeatist attitude

It may well be; but capitulation BEFORE the game is not what 'supporting' you (supposed) team is/should be about

C'mon you Bluebirds; Bournemouth not in great form at home! :ayatollah:

Hard to be positive with the season we are having and a defence like a sieve. We only lost by the odd goal at home earlier this season so we can compete with them. However, I too will be very surprised if we get anything from the game. But like you say get behind the team and stranger things have happened in football.

Parker wary of Bluebirds' set-piece prowess
Scott Parker has spoken about Cardiff City's prowess at the set piece and how it could be a big factor in deciding tonight's game.

He said: “First and foremost it will be a tough game, it will be an evenly balanced game.

“Margins will probably decide it, but they have the capabilities in their team, the personnel in their team to hurt teams.

"I think (set-pieces are) a big area.

“Set-play wise, I think the majority of their goals this year have come from set plays, a large percentage of the goals they’ve scored have come from that.

“They’re a big threat. We also need to be fully alert and get our detail right in terms of set plays.

“It’s going to be pivotal in this game. That is one area I think they’ve got a real threat, in terms of the size and their bodies.

“Evidence suggests the amount of goals they have scored from set plays this year proves that.

“We’re gonna need to be focused at dead-ball situations.”

Same set up. I can see us going behind to a silly defensive mistake with the 3 cbs getting in each others way (again) before he is forced to make a positive change and takes Nelson off and then things improve when we're a back 4.

But, i hope he proves me wrong, it must work in training.

Morison actually does think these kids are not ready or not good enough.

Only a couple are.

I think I agree with him.

A few of them not only need to prove themselves they (along with everyone else) need to pull their f*cking fingers out and graft! Not seen much of it all year! The old heads should be leading by example, who knows, maybe they will in the second half of the season?!

I also think all the loans need to come back. Whyte, Wintle and Murphy to play a key part second half of the season.

A long throw causes a bit of havoc and the ball is hooked towards the six-yard line in the Bournemouth box.

Moore dives and heads, but it's straight at Travers. Big chance, that.

Moore cannot divert home at close range. Travers doing well to gather. (0-0)
