STEVE MORISON:

Transfer News?

"Some of the big boys might do something, but I think for the loan market, I think people will be very reluctant to let people go just yet until we’re hopefully out on the other side of what we’re in at the minute.'

"We knew all along that we could only bring back our loan players or hopefully bring in a new loan player, I knew from day one, their is no money available to me for transfers."

Recall loan lads?

"We can only call them back at certain times. When those dates approach we’ll decide whether we’re going to call them back or not."

Morison

Staff impacted by Covid?

We’re all fine. We’ve had a few situations but they all came during a period when we were off anyway. We never had it anywhere near as bad as the players.

Morison

Team news:

Everyone has now not got Covid. We’ve had our first day of training yesterday for 10 days. We’ll have our second day today. We’re just ticking as many boxes as we can to prepare ourselves as best we can for Bournemouth.

Morison

STEVE MORISON:

"Bournemouth are where they are because they deserve it."

"As I've said, the league doesn’t lie, your where you because thats what you earned," he added.

Crowd?

It’ll be excellent at Bournemouth. We wouldn’t have had any fans at home so it’s nice for us that at the next two games we get to have fans with us.

Hard to keep rhythm?

We haven’t had rhythm or routine because we’ve all been at home. Our first day was yesterday. We’re back on the grass now and and back in the building with slightly different measures now. We turn up, we train, get our food and go home so it’s slightly different to what it was prior, but the main thing is that everyone is healthy and as fit as they can be at the present moment.

Bournemouth won v QPR

As I've said, the league doesn’t lie. They’re at the top because they deserve to be at the top. It was an exciting game to watch. We’ve just got to worry about ourselves.

No home fans - disadvantage?

It is what it is. We can’t worry about it really. Until the powers that be in the Welsh government change that then we have to get on with it. We have to do the best we can. There’s no point dwelling on it too much.

Steadied the ship - hopes?

Just get as high up the table as we possibly can and get ourselves in the best shape we can. It’s pretty black and white.

STEVE MORISON:

Break been useful for those without Covid?

No it hasn’t been positive at all. It’s been like a mid-season break, enforced. Effectively, the lads have had 10-12 days completely off their feet. The amount of players we had infected, they weren’t even allowed to leave their house. They were at a different level of fitness to what they were prior. We can’t worry about it. If we start worrying about it then it becomes a bigger problem than it is. Tomorrow we will solely focus on Bournemouth and how we want to beat Bournemouth. The rest takes care of itself, fitness levels and if there’s any ill effects off the back of Covid, then we’ll find out. The protocols have been put in place mean we have to play three days after coming out of isolation, as long as you have no reactions.

Empty home stadium - fans away?

They travel really well, they travel in their numbers and thankfully they’ve still got the ability to do that. I’m sure it’ll put a smile on everyone’s faces when we see our fans sitting there and clapping. Let’s hope we can put a performance on to match it.

You’re only as good as your last game. They won it, they’re top of the league. They’re in really good form.

Parker felt the pressure

Scott Parker admits he felt the pressure during Bournemouth's six-game winless run.
The Cherries secured victory over QPR yesterday - the first time they have clinched all three points since defeating Swansea on November 6.
And after earning a 1-0 win at QPR on Monday, Parker admitted his side have been feeling the stressed of a tough run.
"It’s been difficult, but it’s part and parcel of what we do," he told the Daily Echo.
"Me and my staff have been in this division many a time and we were going into this game not won a game in six, lost the last two, so there was huge pressure on us, coming to a very difficult place.
"This is only the second time this year they’ve not scored a goal in a home game. So we knew how tough it was.

"I always go back to process, I always go back to what do we need to bring. So it’s a big result for us, for everyone.

"Hopefully we can take this now into Thursday against Cardiff and keep moving."

You got a rise when you arrived - shot to nothing?

I think we’re pretty dangerous to anyone. We just need to carry out the job to the best of our ability. We’ll have a plan to beat Bournemouth and I hope it works.

Bournemouth update

Fans travelling to The Vitality Stadium need to display documentation regarding coronavirus restrictions. Any of the following are sufficient:

• A digital solution such as the NHS COVID Pass or EU equivalent.

• A digital or paper-based certificate of vaccination.

• Confirmation of a negative lateral flow test (LFT) result by text or email (within 24 hours of kick-off).

• Confirmation of immunity, having recovered from Coronavirus no sooner than 14 days and no longer than 6 months before the date of fixture.

Want more subs?

I think there’s an argument. I think you should keep to seven on the bench, but the extra subs would be good. On the flip side, you could end up making the bench up of players who have never played anyway, so you may as well put them on the pitch. It obviously benefits the bigger teams.

STEVE MORISON:

Transfer window?

'In all honesty, this latest outbreak we’re in of Covid, I would be highly surprised if anyone does any business until the back end of January. Every single team we speak to, they can’t be releasing players. They need them just in case they have a Covid outbreak or if they lose five or six players. Everyone is in the same boat."

'I couldn’t let a load of players go out. What would happen if I lost a few then I’m delving into the unknown again. I think it’s going to be a really late market, and that’s not for the fact we haven’t tried, it’ll be more for the fact that people are in a completely different scenario now because they’ve got players that are possibly in and around their first team, maybe they want them to go on loan, but then they have two or three players go down with Covid and have to keep them. We need to get through this wave now and see.'

' Some of the big boys might do something, but I think for the loan market, I think people will be very reluctant to let people go just yet until we’re hopefully out on the other side of what we’re in at the minute.'

"We knew all along that we could only bring back our loan players or hopefully bring in a new loan player, I knew from day one, their is no money available to me for transfers."

STEVE MORISON:

Steve Morison says Cardiff City no longer have any Covid-19 concerns ahead of their Championship clash with Bournemouth.

The Bluebirds were unable to face Derby County or Coventry City over the festive period - with several members of their squad being forced to isolate in accordance with government guidelines after returning positive coronavirus tests.

However, Cardiff players returned to training at their Vale Resort base on Monday ahead of Thursday's trip to the south coast of England.

STEVE MORISON:

"Everyone has now not got Covid," said Morison.

"We’ve had our first day of training yesterday for 10 days. We’ll have our second day today.

"We’re just ticking as many boxes as we can to prepare ourselves as best we can for Bournemouth.
"We haven’t had rhythm or routine because we’ve all been at home. Our first day was yesterday. We’re back on the grass now and and back in the building with slightly different measures now.

"We turn up, we train, get our food and go home so it’s slightly different to what it was prior, but the main thing is that everyone is healthy and as fit as they can be at the present moment.

"We wouldn’t have had any fans at home so it’s nice for us that at the next two games we get to have fans with us."

The significant rise in Covid-19 cases across the United Kingdom is set to have a strong impact on how the January transfer window pans out.

Premier League clubs are expected to stockpile fringe players to ensure they can cope in the event that they temporarily lose some of their top stars to coronavirus.

And Morison believes the vast majority of business in the upcoming market will be done in the final days of the window.

"In all honesty, this latest outbreak we’re in of Covid, I would be highly surprised if anyone does any business until the back end of January," admitted the Cardiff boss.

"Every single team we speak to, they can’t be releasing players. They need them just in case they have a Covid outbreak or if they lose five or six players. Everyone is in the same boat.

"I couldn’t let a load of players go out. What would happen if I lost a few, then I’m delving into the unknown again.

"I think it’s going to be a really late market, and that’s not for the fact we haven’t tried, it’ll be more for the fact that people are in a completely different scenario now because they’ve got players that are possibly in and around their first team, maybe they want them to go on loan, but then they have two or three players go down with Covid and have to keep them.

"We need to get through this wave now and see. Some of the big boys might do something, but I think for the loan market, I think people will be very reluctant to let people go just yet until we’re hopefully out on the other side of what we’re in at the minute."

Bournemouth returned to the top of the league table courtesy of a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Monday.

Dominic Solanke struck the only goal of the game at The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium as the Cherries ended a run of six games without a win.

And Morison believes Scott Parker's men are worthy of their status as league leaders ahead of what is the final game of the calendar year for both clubs.

"As I've said, the league doesn’t lie,you are where you are in the league because of what you earned" he added.

"They’re at the top because they deserve to be at the top. It was an exciting game to watch [against QPR] but we’ve just got to worry about ourselves."

Kick-off at The Vitality Stadium is at 7:45pm on Thursday.

Odd fans can travel but not watch at home?

I’ve spoken about it enough. Everyone knows my thoughts on it. It is what it is. The fans will travel to Bournemouth in their numbers and let’s hope we can put on a show.

Transfer uncertainty help you keep players?

"Ultimately, if we’re entertaining an offer for a player then there’s obviously a bigger picture. Players who are on the periphery who want to go somewhere to play games or anyone from a Premier League club available for a loan, they may not allow them to go on loan for the first two or three weeks."

" I think it’s going to be more of the free transfer market."

Bournemouth have Covid cases in camp

Thursday night's opponents Bournemouth have a "couple of cases” in their camp, boss Scott Parker has confirmed.

The Bluebirds head to the south coast to take on the Cherries after a number of postponements.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Parker said: “Lloyd (Kelly) tested positive for COVID in the week. We have a couple of cases.

“Hopefully Lloydy comes back now and gets some negatives.”

Asked whether it ruled out the 23-year-old against the Bluebirds, the Cherries boss said: “I don’t think it does.

“Now it was probably eight days ago or something like that. We now need to go through protocol and get a negative test.

“Today was too quick and he didn’t train yesterday. Hopefully Cardiff will be fine.”

Ryan Wintle's future up in the air

Blackpool boss Neil Critchley says he is unsure whether Ryan Wintle will at the club beyond January.

Wintle missed the Tangerines' Boxing Day clash with Huddersfield Town and the manager addressed the future of the Cardiff City loanee.

“We don’t know because obviously he’s Cardiff’s player and they can recall him, that’s the agreement that’s in place in January which is normal for every loan player," he said.

“It’s something we’ve discussed internally about Ryan, because he’s been brilliant for us.

“He was a miss for us but Sonny (Carey), for a 20-year-old boy who was playing in an unfamiliar position, was outstanding.
