' The big clearout '

Make no bones about it, the summer of 2022 will see a big old clearout at Cardiff City.

There are a number of high-profile players hurtling towards the end of their contract and it is likely a large chunk of them will be out the exit door at the end of the campaign.

Josh Murphy, Ciaron Brown, Alex Smithies, Sean Morrison, Aden Flint, Marlon Pack, Isaac Vassell, Joe Ralls and Will Vaulks all have six months remaining on their current deals, with talks doubtless under way as we speak.

Realistically speaking, we could see a good number of the above exit the club, with Cardiff looking to change the make-up of their squad, adding youth and pumping up squad value in the process.

It's never nice to see, but some beloved figures may not be at the club at the beginning of next season and new stars, or ones already within the ranks, will have to take their place.

For me Joe Ralls should be offered some kind of new contract a very consistent good Championship player :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Annis for me Ralls and believe it or not Flint, been one of our better performers, will be very good with a fast centerback beside him. If we are going to play 3 in the center then mcguiness flint (pun intended :laughing6: ) and a new another center back who can play it out of defence

Roger , I agree Flint has been good this season and if I had to chose between Flint and Morrison it would be Flint.
Morrison way to slow now.

I always thought that Ralls was half decent in the Prem too.

The 9 players can in January start negotiations with other clubs if they want to.

Those terms could be 50% of what he’s on now mind or a much shorter term or based on appearances etc. who knows. Remember the Joe Bennett situation.

I wont lie, but it wouldn't surprise me if NO talks have even taken place with any of them. I might be wrong.

The rate at which Cardiff City have gone from everyones choice for play off year in year out, with a good smattering of real quality players to laughing stock of penniless no hopers, with little or no experience, and lack of quality must rank as one of the quickest in football history.

The only ones worth thinking about are Morrison and Ralls. Both may be slow & injury prone but they are both seasoned and experienced at this level. They’ll have to presumably accept lower wages.
Smithies possibly only if he takes a big hit on wages.
As for the rest there is no case for Pack, Brown and Vaulks. Absolutely no way they should be retained.
Flint likewise; he is enthusiastic but so limited.
Vassell & Murphy - just get them off the books and save £000’s wages.

Ps it’s still unreal that Bacuna has another year left.

People seem upbeat about this and on the face cutting out some dead wood may seem good but they make up the bulk of the experience in our squad. There are some seasoned championship pros in that list that I'm worried we won't replace.

What quality players have we lost apart from Wilson who was a loanee? Bamba,Hoilett,Etheridge and Bennett all struggling to get into their new teams,Patterson now in Division1?
If Tan was guilty, it was because he trusted Warnock to spend the £100million Premier League money wisely instead of thanking him for his services and appointing a Manager who had success in the Big League? Warnock failed in the PL with five different teams and none of the players he bought for us have been a success!

I agree with your sentiment Harri. But, Warnock had done the business and somehow fluked a promotion to the golden goose league. Reid and Murphy made perfect sense young English so should get out money back or make a profit. It wasn't the premier league it was the championship preseason that killed us. Everyone of Warnocks buys were Warnock type players and were short term. When he realised he bought a load of duds and he wasn't going to get his record extending promotion he fcukedoff as soon as he could.

The two those on this thread are talking about staying are Ole's(Morrison) and Malky (Ralls)

We need to get rid of the managers role, they barely last 18 months and need to employ someone with a longer term view who employs the first team coach.

Agree with you completely Llan, replace Dalman and Choo with a Director of Football who knows his stuff!

Them two for me are a major problem at our club and I can not see a great future under them.

I’d be interested to know their wage including any expenses / bonuses.

Dalman thinks that's all he needs to do is smooth talk and Choo thinks getting on a supporters bus is his remit, we need the pair of them gone and a DoF in place, I would try for McPhail personally.

Re: ' The big clearout '

I am never one to have a go at Dalman and Choo but they have failed in their roles.

We know Vinny is the final say, and he is the owner but he needs to change the structure or we'll repeat the same cycle of mistakes time and time again.

We need a director of footballing operations. He/She is the point of contact for the first team coach, he ultimately with the owners approval hires and fires the first team coach, U23 coach (pointless role), U18, U16 and head of the academy and importantly recruitment.

We also need a finance director because any business needs to have a strong FD who understands the business. I would drop the commercial team under his jurisdiction but you could also have a commercial director.

The first team coach will ask for a certain type of player, that's all though, no contact with agents. The DoF will ask recruitment if any scouted player fits (its the same philosophy as the DoF hires everybody) and the Dof and FD make contact. Vinny still needs to approve as he is the boss.

If the recruitment doesn't work out, at least its for the right reasons and not because who the agent was.

This works on the continent and that's where i'd look.
