BLUEBIRDS BOXING DAY GAME V COVENTRY CALLED OFF

Mon Dec 20, 2021 2:04 pm

Cardiff City's clash with Coventry City is off due to Covid-19 outbreak
By Glenn Williams

Cardiff City's Boxing Day clash with Coventry City has been postponed after the Bluebirds informed the EFL they would be unable to field a squad because of a Covid-19 outbreak in camp.

It is the second game in succession which has had to be rearranged after last weekend's fixture with Derby County was called off on Friday due to coronavirus cases in both camps.

That has continued into this week and, despite being six days out from the match, Cardiff told the league's governing body on Monday lunchtime they would be unable to fulfil the fixture.

A new date for the match, which was due to be held at Cardiff City Stadium, will be rearranged in due course.

"Following consultation with the EFL, Cardiff City regret to announce that Boxing Day’s fixture with Coventry City has been postponed due to several cases of COVID-19 within the playing squad and staff," Cardiff's statement read.

"Details in respect of a re-arranged date will follow in due course.

"Season Tickets will remain valid for the re-arranged fixture. All match tickets purchased for this game will also remain valid for the rearranged date.

"If you have purchased a match ticket for this fixture, please wait for the re-arranged date to be confirmed, after which point if you still require a refund, please email tickets@cardiffcityfc.co.uk with proof of purchase and a member of the team will contact you at the earliest opportunity. Alternatively, please contact the Ticket Office via telephone on 033 33 11 1920. If you’ve purchased hospitality packages for this fixture, a member of the commercial team will be in contact. For any specific queries email sales@cardiffcityfc.co.uk. Terms and conditions apply.

"We thank supporters for their continued understanding and support."

Cardiff's next scheduled fixture is away to Bournemouth on Thursday, December 30.

What’s Drakeford got to do with it? 24 games were cancelled this weekend just gone and only 1 was in Wales.

Drakeford would have had something to do with it but was beaten by the lack of jabs from the players .

He's made enough mistakes himself during this (although not in Boris proportions   ) so you don't have to try and blame something on him that he wasn't involved with

MONTY

You've lost the plot, if you really need to believe that Drakeford 'wants' to cancel anything!

The Bluebird players and/or staffs (most of whom we don't know whether they are vacvinated or not) have contracted Covid from their own environment and not by Mark Drakeford

The one thing you can positively say about Drakeford is that misguided or not, he errs on the side of caution and is far less likely to be a 'cause' of Covid than individual persons own actions/environments

Seems others agree but no doubt cue JB1 (doesn't take much working out) at this point. His previous comment didn't go unnoticed, despite it falling mainly on the proverbial deaf ears ;) :laughing6:

Well seeing as you seem to think you know so much, how about providing a list of our vaccinated and unvaccinated players??
If you cannot, perhaps put your brain in gear, BEFORE opening your mouth?

You're not wrong there; it's just that some people simply don't care about anyone outside their own heads and personal 'wants' :?

It could be argued that's the true 'pandemic' today, as care and consideration for others takes a rather steep nose-dive and those who actually give a hoot are ridiculed for giving one... :(

Yes Drakeford has done well but with Boris government support .

Footballers are a feckless selfish lot who at times make me consider why I continue to support the sport .

Drakeford can’t win either way ....what ever he does is wrong !
Players who don’t want the vac ( that’s their right btw) is the issue .
Clubs should be allowed to pull in unattached players as cover ....this could go on a while and the end of the season could be a nightmare for some clubs

I agree. The Govt could "help" by allowing employers to stop paying "staff" who refuse vaccine.

SVEN
Did i say drakeford would have banned all fans given the chance seems if our game was still on it would have been behind closed doors.

Re: ANOTHER CARDIFF CITY GAME CALLED OFF:

Tue Dec 21, 2021 10:33 am

Apparently we've only got 4-5 players available for training. The rest come out of isolation 2 days before the Bournemouth game.
Compare that with the Bristol City squad who had there boosters on the 20th.
