Cardiff City Player

I had a phone call this week from the company that run Cardiff City Player, my subscription was due for renewal on 29th September and they asked if I would like to renew. They gave me all the talk about the video content now all being in high definition and that if I renewed now I would get an offer of reduced subsciption for October and November.

Now I have been a subscriber to player since it first started and to be honest I have always enjoyed watching the video content, the totty doing this girl on film thing has been another improvement this year.

However the one thing I have noticed is that DJ pre match interviews have been getting shorter and to be honest less and less informative. Last year for instance when the guys from mediawales attended the interview the average duration was about 20 minutes, with all the goings on last year some were nearly 30 minutes. The thing is though that the interviews covered a variety of topics and were quite informative.

This season however the interviews have been getting shorter and shorter ending today in a pre match interview lasting 5 minutes and 7 seconds, even shorter than the pre Leicester interview which was 6 minutes 23 seconds long.

The other thing is that the questions are almost identical things like, "any news on the injured players Dave" he has a stock answer to this which is "We are having a look at them this morning". The next question is always "Well Dave it's Ipswich tomorrow another hard game". Again a stock answer of "Every game is a hard game in this division". There was then a few seconds given to recovery time for the players when they have to play 3 games in a week.

Whilst I am not surprised these boring, predictable and highly staged interviews I must say I am extremely disappointed to be treated this way, as a fan who always buys my season ticket the moment they go on sale and always spends my fair share in the shop, car parking permit , Cardiff City Player subscription you get the message I think I am entitled to a litlle more than this.

We all know that DJ has piss poor media skills but by showing such indifference to the fans, and lets face Cardiff City Player is a subscription service supposedly dedicated to providing the latest news from the club to the fans, he is IMO showing comtempt to all of us.

Although I had agreed to extend the service for another year I have now decided to use my 30 day option to cancel, when I read of the club is looking to improve it's links with local business and supporters this comtempt flies in the face of that policy. Annis said in a post a few weeks ago that DJ is now the most powerful man in the club, the problem with absolute power is that it corrupts absolutely.

If the club really is that interested in improving it's links with local business and supporters then someone needs to tell this guy that he has to pull himself together and that mediawales WILL be attending his pre match interviews and that he will answer their questions with good grace.

If you think about it on Sunday evening Jonny Owen was on this messageboard and he answered all questions put to him with a great deal of grace and dignity, and he had no idea before hand what he was going to be asked. Why is it that our manager cannot find it in him to do the same for the fans.

Perhaps the answer lies in his opinion of "This part of the world", end of rant

By the way Annis my missus asked me the other day how much I had to pay to view this messageboard, when I said nothing she said well maybe you should cancel that player thing because if you want to know whats going on you always log on to this site. Perhaps you should think of a small subscription charge    :ayatollah:

The commercial side of CCFC are not interested in anything but your money, mate....and you're not far wrong with your assessment that this web-site is often more informative :D
