‘ 29,000 Crowd ‘

Sat Dec 18, 2021 3:19 pm

Ipswich Town called on their fans to turn up today to welcome their new manager v Sunderland and even with Covid and Covid passes needed , Over 29,000 fans have turned up to watch a League 1 game ( Div 3) :thumbright: :thumbright:

So when I said Cardiff should get a crowd of just 22,000 v Derby , a Championship game and vital, many on here thought I was asking to much, I 100% never agreed and don’t agree even more now.

Fans are praising our youngsters, brilliant local talent, football has improved, No trouble anymore , some say they are very happy with the current regime.

We have had 20 years of virtually successful football on the pitch and not been below the Championship for 20 years, so why is it a lot to expect a 22,000 home crowd???

Wont be surprised if we fans dont watch the city at our stadium until march time, due to covid.

Have to accept the crowds we get are what we have. We are clearly a club with a sizeable support of fans who only go when we do well or if in premiership.

The ones going can't do anymore than they do. I would be there whatever division we are in

And I would and have been their No matter what league we have been, I agree with you on that :thumbright:

What I can’t understand is people who call themselves fans but only go if we are going up or are in the Premier League , I stand by this, for me they are not really Cardiff City fans .

Totally agree I have alot of friends who have had the odd season ticket over the years but rarely go now. It looks like we have approx 15k championship supporting fans just now. If our form was to get better maybe 20k plus crowds.

Makes it worse in such a big stadium especially when 3 to 4000 season tickets dont turn up for some games

They priced the game really well, tickets from £3 and adults £15 I am not sure we would get the same crowd with that pricing

I love this thread. The problem is that there’s 15,000 who love the club but another 15.000 who follow City but want to be associated with success. Ironically, though, there’s about 300,000 in South Wales who support

Excellent prices, I never knew they had, Cheers, so League 1 £15 Adults and kids £3 .

We did half price to season ticket holders to bring two friends ( 14,000 season ticket holders) and our crowd was 17,000.

I honestly don’t think it’s our pricing, to be fair the current Regime have kept them at a fair price for Championship football.

Cardiff have never been a well supported club in its own city mate, it's really sad.

If it wasnt for the support they get from the other areas of South Wales it would be even worse.

They also did a package for the xmas period games at £40 per adult for the 3 games Which is an excellent deal As you mentioned if City have done one thing well is that our pricing is good for the championship and we don’t rip off away supporters like may clubs do

Brilliant, Well done Ipswich.

I do agree Cardiff need to do more, def :thumbright: :bluebird:

But on here , we would if heard crowd is low because of Covid, it’s cold it’s the week before Xmas etc etc
I get bored of hearing the crap.

If you want to go, you go end off and if it had been a big name club here they would be their. :thumbright:
:thumbright:
They need to Support City now , not when they are top of a league

Ipswich average gate this season is just under 20k similar to ours, and second only to Sunderland who are averaging 30k in Division 1 so a meeting of the two biggest clubs in the Division with a new Manager just appointed is obviously why it was their biggest attendance since being in the division.
Our attendance in the Premier League was the 11th highest in the Division which shows the potential of the club and if we ever became established 40k wouldn’t be a problem. We have a tremendous catchment area but I think people are just fed up of us underperforming as a team and playing crap football and so only the diehards who perhaps have no other interests stay loyal!

Their average is about three thousand more than ours and we are taking about league 3 here, not the Championship.

It’s excuse after excuse, for many home games this season their has actually only been 12,000 and 13,000 in attendance.

Why can’t we just say well done Ipswich, amazing home crowd, their was No excuses of Covid, a week before Xmas , it’s cold, to many cars on the road etc etc

Ipswich fans were asked to turn up and they did , in massive numbers :thumbright:

I will say it again, anyone can watch the opposition in the Premier, now us when you turn up and support your team, they need you now, not to just watch the opposition.

Not wrong to expect it, it just won't happen. Not whilst we are lingering above relegation.
