Warnock odds slash for Ipswich job

Former Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has moved into third favourite to take over at Ipswich Town.

Another ex-Bluebirds boss, Neil Harris, is the bookmakers' favourite, but Warnock is now 12/1 to get the post. Mick McCarthy, who once managed at Portman Road, is 33/1

Warnock's eighth and most recent promotion was with Cardiff City and he has always said he wants the ninth one in the bank before he hangs up his boots for good in the dugout.

Back in August, Warnock said he believed Ipswich had all the resources available to get out of the division.

He said: “I just think the money they're spending they should win the league really. They are really splashing out and have a new owner and everything."

Next Ipswich Town manager odds:

Neil Harris 1/3

Marc Bircham 8/1

Neil Warnock 12/1

John Terry 12/1

Frank Lampard 16/1

Derek McInness 20/1

Neil Lennon 20/1

Liam Manning 20/1

Ipswich fans keen on Warnock

Ipswich Town fans have urged the club to appoint Neil Warnock as their next boss.

The League One side are on the lookout for a new manager after parting company with Paul Cook earlier this month, and there's already been plenty of speculation over who will take the reins at Portman Road.

Neil Harris, another former Bluebirds gaffer, is one of those to be strongly linked, but a new poll has suggested that Warnock is the fans' choice to talk over in East Anglia.

Mick McCarthy is the least wanted by Ipswich fans and many say they would boycott.

The poll, conducted by the East Anglian Daily Times, saw Warnock garner 23 per cent of the vote, putting him ahead of Frank Lampard (18 per cent) and Liam Manning (10 per cent).

Warnock is available too, having been sacked by Championship side Middlesbrough earlier this season
