Corners yesterday. Ralls Smithies

Sun Dec 05, 2021 4:11 pm

First half we had a corner, it was swung into the near post, their keeper caught it unchallenged perfect height no pace on it. No City player near the near post. Second half we sent a corner to the far post, perfect head height, it sailed out of play, not a City player near it! Who calls the shots on corners? Seems to be a lack of communication.

Also, Sheff Utd had an attack which came to nothing, Smithies in possession, Ralls just over halfway toward the left looked around and told him to keep it, then changed his mind and asked for Smithies to send it, twice, but Smithies overruled him both times and waited until everyone was set and sent it towards 16 players on the right for a game of second ball 50/50 head tennis! Who is the keeper to make his own decision to hoof it elsewhere when another player feels he’s in a better position to receive the ball.
If we’d won 4 nil these kind of instances would probably go unnoticed but we lost, and we’re not very good so they stick out like a blind cobblers thumb.

Wasn’t counting and I do remember the one at the end that sailed over everyone but generally I thought we looked dangerous from corners yesterday

But if the signal was for a near post corner and the taker puts it far post it's the taker at fault not those in the box waiting for it.

A corner may look great but if it's not what was planned it ain't that good !!
