MY VIEW: AS SEAN MORRISON WAS SENT OFF / CARDIFF SUDDENLY C

MY VIEW / OPINION:

AS SEAN MORRISON WAS SENT OFF / CARDIFF SUDDENLY CRUMBLED AND SUFFERED YET ANOTHER HOME DEFEAT

ONE NIL UP & FOR ME WE CRUMBLED TO EASILY 3 GOALS

We had actually played some good football until then.

MORRISON DROPPED TWO OF THE BIGGEST NAMES TODAY AND CITY HAD A FAIRLY GOOD FIRST-HALF:

Keither Moore & Rubin Colwill were both dropped to the bench.

CARDIFF DID FIGHT IN THE LAST 10MINS & GOT A GOAL BACK, BUT WAY TO LATE

City tried to play football :bluebird: What was costly was terrible defending and actually giving in to easily once 10men

10 men and winning 1nil, many teams in the past have battled and got results, gave in to easy for my liking today

First-Half: First 20mins and Sheffield United were the better side, City then came in to the game and a goal by Mark Harris, made by Joe Ralls put City 1 nil up and then Davies nearly made it 2nil. City finished the half-the better team :bluebird:

Second-Half: Once Sean Morison was sent of, Cardiff City were totally out played and crumbled way to easily

CARDIFF CITY 2 SHEFFIELD UNITED 3

Alex Smithies, Perry Ng, Mark McGuinness, Sean Morrison, Curtis Nelson,Ryan Giles
Joe Ralls, Marlon Pack, Mark Harris, Isaak Davies,James Collins

Subs: Dillon Phillips, Aden Flint, Ciaron Brown,Will Vaulks
Leandro Bacuna,Rubin Colwill, Kieffer Moore

H-T 1-0 :bluebird:

Crowd
Away Support 1,250 (Sheff United)

32nd min: Mark Harris :bluebird:

Mark Harris turned and slotted home beautifully. :bluebird:

1-0 :bluebird:

First 20mins and Sheffield United were the better side, City then came in to the game and a goal by Mark Harris, made by Joe Ralls put City 1 nil up and then Davies nearly made it 2nil. City finished the half-the better team :bluebird:

H-T 1-0 :bluebird:

52nd min: RED CARD

McGoldrick playrd a through ball in for Sharp, who beat Morrison for pace.

The skipper then lunges in from behind with Sharp bearing down on goal on the edge of the area.

Way to slow

55min: Flint on for Mark Harris

60mins: GOAL! Cardiff City 1-1 Sheffield United
Gibbs-White curls hime a stunning strike from the edge of the box.

Nearly two as Smithies had to scramble across his line to deny McGoldrick with a one hand save :bluebird: :bluebird:

62nd min: Kieffer Moore on :bluebird: :bluebird:

James Collins off

Double change for Cardiff as Moore and Vaulks replace Davies and Collins.

It was all United

Goal disallowed offside, thankfully off-side :bluebird:

74th min: It was United totally controlling the game and good football, with a neat finish made it 1-2

76th min: GOAL! Cardiff City 1-2 Sheffield United (McGoldrick)

McGoldrick's drive is somehow allowed to squeeze past two sliding defenders and into the net.

Terrible defending.

Giles put it in to Moore who nearly made it 2-3

GOAL! Cardiff City 2-3 Sheffield United (McGuinness) :bluebird: :bluebird:
McGuinness heads home a Joe Ralls corner.

Smithies made a brilliant save in the last seconds :bluebird:

SMITHES AND RALLS MY MEN OF THE MATCH :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Sending off obviously changed things. We showed poor mentality after that.

Morrison is going to work very hard now to justify his selections. I can't see him being here next season.

Ian, yes that upset me how we crumbled way to easy and that was bad in my opinion

We were lucky first half the defence was all over the place. We didn't track runners at all, The sending off killed the game but I agree the mentality was pathetic we didn't put up a fight just rolled over. The bigger picture is our defence and our home form will mean we will get relegated. We don't draw enough. Sean Morrison has been a great servant but time to say goodbye. Hes never recovered from that injury against the jacks.

Harsh to say they crumbled and before red card felt played well and would have won with attacking subs to come on

Our away results will be so important come May.
Lack of fight today after the red card but with football red cards change games and that happened today.
Won't surprise me if we win at Birmingham next week.

The team is in transition and the senior players let us down today, Pack and Morrison to slow to react to danger
I think we will survive this season with other teams also struggling to get out of trouble, clearly players need to be moved on and allow Steve Morison to build his team

What I would like to say is that this was much better than some of the crap we displayed until Morison took over. Disappointed but not disheartened, as I still think we have the basis of a decent, if not spectacular, team

well I would not go far as spectacular but if we can stop these moments of lack of concentration we could be safe this year.

The starting line up for the second home game in a row was....questionable to say the least but even more questionable for me was the decision to bring Vaulks on when we went down to 10 men. That was a sign of what was to come, overly defensive and it was inevitable what would happen after that.
Sadly Morrison cost us 3pts today, he has been a great player for us and a brilliant captain but his legs have gone and there is no way back for him now. In January we need pace brought in to our back 3, Nat Phillips from Liverpool is available for loan so that may be worth an attempt although he may stay in PL.

Hudson needs to sort out our defence, back 3 hasn’t worked all season? Need to go to back 4 until we get ball playing centre backs?

As enjoyable of a game as you can get when losing, rode our luck but the sending off killed us.Thought Flint was immense when he came on.

The young un's and Morison are learning on the job.

I thought the subs were a bit panicky. I kind of get the Flint , but why the obsession with 3 centre backs. But Vaulks blew me, surely we needed more speed and mobility. Without pace up top we were trapped.

2 banks of 4 and a speedster up top for the ball over top should have been the way to go.

Issack Davies showed a lot more today :D

No doubt the game changed on the Morrison sending off, and for me it was a nailed on Red card. It was almost inevitable that Sheff Utd would get back into the game from a Morrison mistake as Smithies saved his blushes 3 times in the first 15 minutes. Sadlt the mistake when it arrived carried a double whammy which cost us massively.

Until that point I thought we were doing OK and were showing more improvement bearing in mind we are very much in transition from hoofball to a more possession based game. We didn't have our best starting team but I thought Mark Harris took his goal really well and Isaac Davies really does look a prospect, I would have loved him to have scored from that run in the first half.

Sean Morrison has been a very good player for us but this season his has dropped away from the player we have relied on and he seems to have a mistake or two in him every game. I just cannot see him being here next season.

Crumbled. Come off it , we were down to 10 men. I thought the 10 players tried their hearts out to get something out of the game. Seems easy to knock the players when we lose. Get behind the team and stop complaining. :bluebird:

To concede three goals so quick after Morrison got sent off, for me that’s crumbled.
Over the years we have seen 10 men come from behind and even win games.

Then in the last 10 mins we showed character and finally made a go of it.

We all have our opinions and for me we crumbled after the sending off.

We were doing well before the sending off and then bang for 15 mins we collapsed.

Can’t believe he dropped Morrison and Rubin colwill to the bench he must have had his reasons after our good away win at Luton I thought they would have been in the side yesterday to spearhead the attack yes the sending off changed the game but to be honest sharp had been given Morrison a bit of a run round he always seemed to get around Morrison quiet a bit not having a go at Morrison he always plays is heart out but billy sharp is a good and clever striker he got round Morrison and Morrison didn’t have the pace to catch him

Just goes to show the size of the job the Gaffer's got on his plate.

Martin,

Your spot on, our squad weaker than many realise and many are not up to the job.

But I am 100% behind Steve Morison :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

The only thing I'm comfortable with is we have the right man as manager. If we are going to survive the drop it will be down to him mainly.
