Why should they?

Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:32 am

Why should Rubin Colwill or any of our Accademy players be sold,if we are supposedly building for the future and want to get back to the Premier League??

We are being told time and time again we are rebuilding and these players like Colwill, Evans, Bowen etc etc are our new future etc etc

Now I have read on here that a few are saying yes we have be to like other clubs do, well then we can’t say these players are our future etc or we are building for the future ??

Listen if we get offered £10mill for any of these players next year , then I understand, but if it’s way beneath that then it’s a NO from me as we never put the money back in to buying.

We are either rebuilding properly or just more bullshit.

Let’s hope we are rebuilding properly for next season and we stay up this season :thumbright: :bluebird:

We need these players and the older heads to stay up first :bluebird: :bluebird:

Then get rid of the massive wages.

Going to be interesting as, as you say the board keep saying these youngsters are our future and we are building a team full of local and youth coming through and Vincent tan keeps saying he wants a team full of our young ones, perhaps the board will finally surprise and keep to their word :ayatollah:

Agree we should not be selling these youngsters but if a reasonable bid comes in from a more appealing club then the players head maybe turned and want to go,especially if his wages are going to inflate.

Let’s not forget we turned down a very good bid from Leeds for Cian Ashford so there’s hope.

Some of them inevitably will be sold in the next few years I just hope we hold out for a good fee and and a sell on clause.

Of course they will go if we get a good offer.

We were told we wouldn’t sell any of the Crown Jewels but 3.5 million later Earnie was gone, Danny G too. All players have a price and players want to play at the highest level they can.

That was because we where being chased by the taxman when we had no money nor anyone interested in us. So we have been reminded by a few.

Now we have a rich man in the club so no reason to sell our crown jewels now.

I think most fans want to see a team full of local lads who have come through our academy As always if we have a gem and need the money we will sell at the right price
We also need to take into the account of agents today and how they get in the head of the young players of take the money while you can and a move is how you will make it .

This season could go down as a very important season in our development if we stay up Four / Five youngsters blooded and a years more experience as the mature in strength and experience

The absolute ideal is bring through the academy keep for a few years then sell on, with agents that’s easier said than done. Also a hefty sell on clause should be bolted on to any transfers.

Couldnt agree more, we have been splashing out cash like no tomorrow on over inflated fees & big wages, we need to stabilise the club, and as you say, bring them through, blood them in the championship for a couple of years, then as you rightly point out, hopefully sell a few on at devmcent fees& ffs,add on a sell on clause + add one etc!

I'm not saying sell the crown jewels, but we want stability, then this is unfortunately the right way to go, brentford have done similar, plus even the Jack's to a degree!

If our younsters turn out to be class acts, we will struggle to stop their heads being turned, by offers, and the shitty agents of course! Unless we get promoted, all our young players will be looked at, especially if they are looking like future stars etc.

Will the money be te invested? We will have to wait & see I guess, but I believe the philosophy of the club is turning, and the idea of keeping ALL our youngsters is a dream, but highly unlikely, even if we were promoted, the big guns will always pick off the kids if they want them.

Cant help it Neil can you, bringing those days up, he kept the squad together for years and gained two promotions, NO relegations and left us top of the Championship.
At one stage we had 8 or 9 Welsh players

And as you rightly have said, he was stabbed in the back, money ran out due to New Stadium etc.

This bunch of clowns keep promising something new every couple of years and now their latest one is to make the first team all local players and Academy players, and only doing this to save money , NO passion about it or feeling and as you all can see it it was not working as it could not, throwing them all in the deep end, as if not good enough still thrown in.

Steve Morison is a breath of fresh air and honest about it :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Wait till we get to rhe prem then i am quite happy to swap and sell but lets get there first lets keep all our good players and be the best team in the championship then we may promotion otherwise whats the point if we have no ambition cannot remember wolves or leeds selling there best players when they pushed for promotion.

I bring it up as it’s relevant to the post.

There are very few clubs who can afford to keep players once their head is turned.

We have always sold our best players when a team in a higher league came knocking. That’s just football.
