If I think we'll lose it say it, but I can see Morison getting his first home victory of his reign, and November being the 1st month where we can have optimism that survival may be a possibility. We're due a clean sheet too. If Morrison carries on his form from last week, I think we'll get it.

SHEFFIELD STAR:

On paper, Cardiff is a winnable game for United.

Brewster, given his links to Swansea, will be desperate to get one over on the Bluebirds. Likewise, the home fans will no doubt be ready with some treatment for both he and Conor.

SHEFFIELD STAR.

Thursday 2nd December 2021

Sheffield United striker Rhian Brewster has handed the club a boost ahead of Cardiff this weekend, confirming that he should indeed be fit to play.

Brewster scored his first league goal at Bramall Lane in the 2-0 win over Bristol City at the weekend. Overall, it was a good performance from the young striker. However, he left the field holding his hamstring in what looked like a worrying sign for the forward.

But speaking to the press today ahead of Saturday’s trip to Wales, Brewster has confirmed that things are looking good on the injury front.

“Yeah it’s okay, just trying to work my back and hopefully be ready for Saturday,” Brewster told Yorkshire Live when quizzed on his hamstring.

Naturally, having Rhian fit will be a boost for Paul Heckingbottom. The new Blades manager has already confirmed he will push the former Liverpool man to get the best out of him.

Likewise, Jack Lester has also confirmed he has been working with Brewster already on striker-specific bits of play.

Consistency

Seeing Brewster leave the field injured left us, and a lot of Sheffield United fans, fearing the worst. Just as things were on the up, it looked like the young striker was going to be pushed back.

His update here, then, is good news all around. After such a good performance against Bristol City, it’s unlikely that Heckingbottom won’t go with Brewster again this weekend.

Consistency is key for Brewster. That means he needs to keep playing games and hopefully, scoring goals. Any sort of setback now would be a cruel blow for the Blades starlet.

On paper, Cardiff is a winnable game for United. Brewster, given his links to Swansea, will be desperate to get one over on the Bluebirds. Likewise, the home fans will no doubt be ready with some treatment for both he and Conor.

Hopefully, Brewster can show his class and come out on top for the Blades.

If vassell had an ounce of decency he would rip his contract up, injuries are frustrating and horrible trust me I know from personal experience, but he has had thousands upon thousands with no games or not even getting close to getting fit so surely should do the decent thing and walk, he can't say he hasn't had enough to get by and needs the money

Match facts

This is the first league meeting between Cardiff City and Sheffield United since April 2018, when the sides drew 1-1 in the Championship.

Sheffield United are winless in six league games against Cardiff (D3 L3) since a 3-0 victory in March 2009 under Kevin Blackwell.

Cardiff City scored their first first-half goal in the Championship this season last time out against Luton Town through Rubin Colwill with what was their 101st first-half shot.

Cardiff City have lost seven of their last eight home Championship games (W1), scoring just three goals during that run.

Sheffield United have won their last two league games, both under different managers (1-0 vs Reading under Jokanovic, 2-0 vs Bristol City under Heckingbottom). The Blades last won three in a row in the league in December 2019.

Cardiff to pay tribute to Dwyer

Steve Morison has paid tribute to Cardif 's record appearance holder Phil Dwyer and their former manger Frank Burrows in today's programme notes.

"I'd like to take this opportunity as manager of the club to pay my respects to Frank Burrows who we paid tribute ahead of kick-off against Hull and of course Phil Dwyer who sadly passed away earlier this week.

"As you know, Phil was our record appearance holder and somebody who gave everything for the shirt. That commitment and dedication to Cardiff City is something I hope our young players look at and aspire to replicate during their careers.

"We'll stand in tribute to Phil ahead of kick-off today and I offer my condolences to his friends and family."

First promising moment of the game as Ralls drives the corner towards the back post. Nelson can't reach it, while Egan does enough to prevent Morrison tucking away.

There's now a moment of appleasue for young Arthur Labinjo-Hughes.

Nice football from Cardiff as Pack plays in a marvelous pass for Harris, who looks to play Davies in just over the halfway line.

Mark Harris, who's looked pretty good up until this point, won't want to see that again. His heavy touch allows Sharp to get away down the right.

Cross is dealt with well enough, but Sharp is on hand to get on the end of Bogle's cross moments later.

The effort's weak and Smithies comfortably gathers.
