Wales face Belgium tonight in our crucial final game in the group stage of World Cup Qualification.

We will almost certainly be seeded and at home for our first play-off game if we draw. If we win, that will definitely happen. We will also finish second if we lose and Czech Republic fail to beat Estonia - however we may not be one of the best second placed teams if that happened.

If we lose and Czech Republic win, we will still be in the play-offs but our first play-off game will be away against a seeded team (a rewn that finished second in their group) - that could be against someone like Scotland or it could be against the likes of Portugal or Italy.

The play-offs will be made up of two single leg games for us, a semi final and a final. If we win both of them (including extra time and penalties) we will qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1958.

The World Cup takes place next November in Qatar.



The game gets underway at 7.45pm. It will be live on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event.


Gareth Bale won't be involved but Kieffer Moore is available again after suspension. Ethan Ampadu is suspended.

Belgium are without Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans, Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Jason Denayer.

Any players who get a suspension after this game will be suspended for our first play-off game. The yellow cards are not wiped for the play-offs.


Aaron Ramsey is among several players who are one yellow card away from a suspension.

The others are Chris Gunter, James Lawrence, Joe Allen, Joe Morrell, Harry Wilson and Sorba Thomas.

Yep and that is what I am thinking. We are too small for UEFA to be considered equal.

I've been fairly critical of Rob Page especially after the Denmark defeat but give the performances in qualifying and the Nations league gotta say well done.
To get out of a tricky group in the summer was probably sightly over looked. The group we've just finished second in contained 2 of the quarter finalists from the summer (there are10 qualifying groups). Bring on the playoffs.

Yep and that is what I am thinking. We are too small for UEFA to be considered equal.

We're all equal; but at FIFA/UEFA, some are just more 'equal' than others...!

Will the play off games go to extra time and penalties?

I've asked elsewhere but do we think the FAW in their wisdom of making more money will move the play off to the Egg stadium?

Not if the players have anything to do with it.... faw muted this before and got short change from players who are hostile towards this.

The three finals are path A. B.C
winners of pathway 1&2 play in final A
2&3 in final B
And 4&5 play in final C
The finals are drawn out of bag so pot luck who plays at home in final ..
