Championship side Derby County have been deducted a further nine points after admitting breaches of English Football League accounting rules.

It means the club are almost certain to be relegated to League One. #bbcfootball #DCFC

We all laugh (mainly because it's Deby County, the snowflake capital of the UK and Shrek is there) but the reality is that this might have been us at one point had TG not come in and 'persuaded' VT to follow

One thing VT has never done (to my knowledge) is to avoid or try to avoid a debt; historic or otherwise?

For me, this is to his credit and also shows Cardiff City FC in a good light for 'sorting' rather than 'avoiding'

Some 'high profile' clubs have gone down the 'avoidance' route and one or two have seemingly gotten away with it

Of course, away from said 'high profile' clubs, some smaller clubs have done similar; with the EFL's most westerly club, Swansea, being one of the largest beneficiaries of 'debt avoidance' when they rose from the ashes seemingly 'happy' at what they had (in their minds) 'achieved'

As one who travelled to Derby on that blizzardous evening (I jest on the term 'blizzardous', of course) I have no respect for Derby County FC but I'm not so sure I don't have some small sympathy for the predicament their owner(s) have put them in as a club

Better maintain our Championship status through our own efforts rather than relying on others to help us out in ways like this

There but for the grace of god as they say. I’m just relieved we aren’t in the same boat. As frustrating as a lack of signings is, if it means we stay afloat then it isn’t all bad. Let’s hope there are 2 more Sides under us come the end of tbr season and the blooded youth are able to push on with some targeted signings over the summer.

For years we have wondered and debated how the hell clubs like Derby would continue spending ridiculous amounts of money without achieving any success. Well now we know, they couldn't!

I think we need to stop taking the Mick. We are far from safe from relegation ourselves. We go to derby the last game of the season the scenario doesn't bear thinking about .

It's so wrong that clubs can just " start over" there should be harsher penalties imho,perhaps even drop into league 2! Would put clubs off in future, from being able to take this route.
