£13m to bring the head of a religous body to Scotland and England.
He only lives 2 hours away in F***king rome, Easy jet do it for about £150 return .
What other "religious gang" would get this kind of subsidy from our tax.
It's stinks!
Thu Sep 16, 2010 3:36 pm
Absolutely no way should we be paying for that nonce to trawl round our country. They can stick religion right up their f*cking arses

No big deal, imho. I remember when one came to Ninian Park, about 1982??? Biggest crowd of the season, for sure. Even a bunch of nuns took the Grange end!

Isn't the Vatican the richest state in the world? Why can't the fuckers pay for the visit themselves? If we don't agree with it, can we get some of our £13 million back?

Just a light hearted joke, & if you think £13 million tax payers money is a lot for a preist to visit this country, try checking out some other costs regarding heads of state visits to this country.

What most Catholic priests are paedophiles????
What a ridiculous thing to say.
It's a problem the church haven't dealt properlyb with of course. But who on earth is saying most preists are involved???

Sorry but £12million plus can be spent in Better ways, Our Schools and Hospitals need the money, The money should of come from their Coffers (Vaticans) Not THE UK's, Just My Opinion.

If he was coming over in a pastoral capacity as JP2 did, then yes, the Vatican should pay for it. But he's here as a head of state, so we're paying for it in the same way we would if it were Obama.
My only disappointment is that he's not visiting Swansea. I have this vision of him in front of a packed Libershitty Stadium, he rises from his chair, tells all the jacks to Feck off and walks out!

cutting policing, armed services etc, and we spend 12million on this dick, but its britain ,what do you expect

"Most catholic priests"? Really? The media must have pickled your brain. Even the anti-faith Guardian has worked out the obvious.

13m is a bargain for a whole state visit, we paid 15m for a fukkin BBQ party of Angela Merkel and George Bush... one day, and that was just the BBQ...

I think its a great thing that the Pope has come to Britain and as a Catholic im very excited about it. In the current financial state we as a country are in £13 million may seem like alot of money, and maybe the money should be spent on schools and hospitals, but dont forget about the faith schools that are funded by the church aswell as hospitals that church contribute to, without forgetting the vast ammount of charity work the church does.

Name me one other religion, that isn't a cult, where such a systematic child abuse problem has come to light?
not that I particularly want to get involved in a debate like this, but it's difficult not to.

I had a tip the last (only) time I was in the Vatican that Cardinal Razinger (sp?) would be the next Pope. Long story but had it was a nailed on bet, unfortunately the previous encumbent placed his bible on the shelf around four years short of his term. I was told five years and did tried to get a sneaky bet on in the UK but none of the bookies knew who he was, got 5/1with with an Italian bookie but the fuckers never paid out.
I shouldn't really put this on an internet forum, Carl gives us info, Annis gives us info and everyones happy or miserable it's a sort of free world.
Nah, I'll leave it for another day....
Allah be praised, may your mingers have their heads chopped off and children wear a sack over their heads.
A few homemade bombs will go down a storm in here in London tomorrow, the muslims can take out the most religious man on the planet. I'll be watching out for spotty faced pale skined children from the likes of CCMB without their burka on...

OK accepted ‘most’ priests are not sexual abusers, but the point is it does happen within an institution where ‘trust’ and ‘faith’ are extremely important.
With that in mind the Catholic Church has badly let itself down by covering up this problem for years. There now does seem to be more openness but because of his failure to investigate and act properly when he was plain Cardinal Ratzinger the Pope should have been debarred from entering the UK.
His behaviour over this matter is so bad it puts him in the same league as sexual offenders or others who are a known danger to children.

child abuse happens in every church, society, faith, race etc... as sad as it is.
but u cannot condemn a whole religion for it, happened here in germany within the protestant church as well... so are all prods pedos as well? think not...
those pedos who are priests are a minority and I believe the church should name em and report them to the police. but most incidents of child abuse doesnt happen there, it doesnt even happen at school...
the vast majority of sexual abuse is carried out by family members of those kids... dads, uncles, brothers, mothers and aunts...

George W Bush declared a "War on Sausage"
it was all that security around him, had over 1500 security and special branch men around him, looking at the final bill I guess they were all invited to the BBQ as well...

CATHOLICS per se are no more kiddy fiddlers than Muslims Protestants or buddhists
But the Catholic Church is a foul corrupt organisation that habitually covers-up anything
that shows the Church in a bad light. The Pope is not just guilty by association. He is actually
guilty of ignoring hundreds of alleged paedophile cases when he was the Cardinal responsible
for that kind of thing. He is guilty of allowing priests to remain in the church even AFTER they
had been found guily of crimes against kids. A crime in itself. They ignored all that, ignored the
pleas of thousands of families and made him pontiff. They ignore everything whilst raking in
Tax free trillions of dollars every single year.
In the name of God?
Spare me.
Fri Sep 17, 2010 5:52 pm
I agree they are foul and corrupt, and so is the the protestant church too... no excuse of course, 2 wrongs wont make it right...
churches are run by human beings, and altho they claim to represent god on earth they are of flesh and blood. and human beings make mistakes...
personally I cant take any church seriously and dont attend apart from weddings, chrstenings and funerals... just disagree on pointing the finger at the catholic church alone, there are more than one organisation on this earth who ignore terrible things.
