BREAKING: DAVID HENDERSON SENTENCED

Fri Nov 12, 2021 12:22 pm

David Henderson has been jailed for 18 months today at Cardiff Crown Court

The businessman who organised a flight that crashed, killing footballer Emiliano Sala, has been jailed for 18 months for 'endangering the safety of an aircraft'.

David Henderson, 67, was convicted by a majority verdict of 10 to two at Cardiff Crown Court last month.

The plane carrying 28-year-old Sala crashed into the English Channel on the evening of 21 January 2019, killing the striker and pilot David Ibbotson, 59.

The player had been travelling to his new club, Cardiff City.
Henderson, a father-of-three and former RAF officer, had arranged the flight with football agent William 'Willie' McKay.

This event simply need not have happened and David Henderson has rightly been convicted for his (substantial) part in the deaths of Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson

That's three families massively impacted in different ways and yet Henderson didn't even have the moral fibre to tell the truth and own up when it was clear the part he played was substantial

He even tried to induce others to lievcover it up!

Hopefully, a couple of squeaky backsides amongst those who colluded with him and a realisation for FC of Nantes that their own part in the larger picture may need to be reassessed

Glad he was found guilty, but all the same 18 months for the loss of 2 peoples lives is not much. He'll be out in 12 months to carry on his life, and I don't think he has shown much remorse, so he will probably live on quite happily.

Be lucky if he serves 6 mths tbh, out on tag or something, he will be "a model prisoner " due to age etc! Nowhere near long enough, but further charges, such as manslaughter are a real possibility in the future, which could/should include a tougher sentence.

This is just the tip of the iceberg imho, with more to come, and all parties involved in whatever way, are probably looking over their shoulders, and rightly so.
I mean even down to warnock, and his dealings with mckay, remember his two sons were signed up? Wasnt McKay banned from being an acting agent too? As I say, far more to this to come out in future.

I believe these charges were related to caa, and breaches of their protocols? As said by Sven, two people have lost their lives, but for me, the pilot was complicit in this awful mess, thus basically committed suicide, and took a poor young lad, with the biggest move of his career about to take place, with him, I fell for his family, but cant help feeling "IF" The pilot did the right thing!! A very sad, yet shady tragedy.

A very sorry tale. From a human perspective one which is full of utter sadness and will continue to be

From a footballing perspective, I'd like to understand how or if this impacts the club and their stance with Nantes
