Wales are guaranteed a place in the World Cup play-offs after Spain won 1-0 in Greece


Wales still hope to secure a home tie by finishing second in our group, but need to win or draw at home to Belarus on Saturday and then beat Belgium at home on Tuesday - if we beat Belarus, a draw will be enough against Belgium to finish second.

This is assuming that Czech Republic beat Estonia at home, which is extremely likely.


We will qualify for the World Cup if we beat both Belarus and Belgium, but Belgium would also need to lose to Estonia - which isn't likely.

Wales will be guaranteed at least a place in the World Cup play-offs if Spain avoid defeat in Greece tonight.

Winning our Nations League group made 99% sure but Spain's result would seal it, regardless of where Wales finish in their World Cup qualifying group.

Wales have to finish second in our group to get a home game in the first play-off match. Those who finish second in their qualifying group are also seeded for the first game.

There will be 12 teams in the play-offs. These are made up of those who finish second in their qualifying group and those who qualified via the Nations League.

Teams will need to win all three of their play-off games (including extra time and penalties if necessary) to progress to the World Cup.

So frustrating those dropped points? Knowing we were 99.999% in playoffs before qualifying started meant page could have taken more risks than he did especially against Estonia....but guess thats what get having a defender as a manager non risk taking... this week s games could have been so much more relaxed.
