" Get to the ground early today "

Sat Nov 06, 2021 7:24 am

Cardiff City will pay our respects for Remembrance Sunday before today's game, as it is our closest home fixture to it. No league game next week due to the international break.

Please remember to get to the stadium with plenty of time to spare today, so you can pay your respects :thumbright:

Cardiff City's match worn shirts will be auctioned off for the Poppy Legion :bluebird:

Great call, Ned

Worth noting that this year is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Royal British Legion following The Great War (later to become known as World War I)

Lots of events over the next week, starting with the Wales Festival of Remembrance at St David's Hall this evening, followed by localised (might say workplace) observation of a minutes silence on Thursday (11th November) and the 'official' Remembrance Parades and services at various Cenotaphs around the Wales and the rest of the UK on the morning of Sunday 14th November

Cardiff (Cathays Park), Newport, Caerphilly, Cowbridge, Penarth, Bridgend are local ones I am currently aware of but I feel sure others on here will be aware of more

"We will remember them..."

Good OP.
Personally, I’m usually there early but unfortunately most fans seem to get to there seats minutes before or just as we are kicking off it seems.

At the Manchester derby they had applause instead of silence. Not sure about that.

No, it's simply not right; we hold a minute's silence for the war dead...

The minute's applause is used to quell the voices of the ignorant and the imbiciles who have little or no respect

Some 'traditions' simply need to stay as they are...!
