Huddersfield - Hats Off :



Personally I say hats off to Huddersfield. How on earth are they 7th in the table (joint 5th on points) is something to be admired.



Their chairman has no money and is nicknamed “Potless Phil” - most of their fans don’t know his real name. Their manager Carlos Corbean is from Spain , played as a Goalkeeper , had a totally undistinguished career as a player and Huddersfield is his 1st managerial appointment - having come from Leeds’ under 23.


Their players are an assortment from lower league , non-league , youth or aging players etc….a true ‘ragtag & bobtail’ outfit.


To make it worse - when we play us (away) this Saturday , their team picks itself as they have so many injuries. Some players are not playing in their natural positions. That is why I admire where they are today with a third of the season gone.


Frankly I do not expect them to make the play-offs but would be delighted if they do. With the team we have - compared to them- one would expect us to win….. on paper. Steve Morrison should be able to notch a win . The pressure is on him this time.




It is ironic that like them our manager’s background is from the under 23 ….. and while our owner is far from being potless - one can say - that at this point in time we are potless in the sense that we have no money to spend. Should we expect a win ?


Yes ! …….but then this is football.
