McAnuff tips Boa Morte for managerial success
Tuesday 2nd November 2021
Jobi McAnuff says Fulham assistant Luis Boa Morte would have a huge job on his hands if he was to be named Cardiff's new boss - but says his pedigree in English football means he could well prove a decent appointment.
Boa Morte is understood to have thrown his hat in the ring for the vacant managerial position, but it's not known where he currently stands in terms of the board's list of preferred candidates.
At the time of writing, Cardiff have not held any further discussions with the 44-year-old, who is currently assistant to Marco Silva at Craven Cottage.
McAnuff believes it could well prove to be a good appointment, but concedes that it would perhaps be considered something of a gamble.
Speaking to Football League World, he said: “I’m sure that Luis Boa Morte with his experiences and the type of football he’s involved in now might be a slightly different proposition to what they’ve had so far.
“Again maybe a young, hungry coach or manager could be what they need, because they have got a good group of players there that are not realising anywhere near their potential at the moment.
“So I think it would be certainly a big job to start off with pedigree in terms of playing wise and he’s been doing what he needs to do on the coaching side of things to put himself in this position.
“I don’t see why not if that was a realistic option for both parties why he couldn’t go there and make a real good go of it.”
