QPR - Wednesday : I do not know if anyone feels

Mon Nov 01, 2021 5:07 pm

QPR - Wednesday :

I do not know if anyone feels like me . For the 1st time in a long long time I feel free from our past.

To me we were a one dimensional team relying on set- pieces , corners and long throws …… get the ball to our giants …… that was it !

One game 100% is no where near enough to change one’s mind ….. but versus Stoke our goals were from outfield play …… a nice start .

Perhaps it is wishful thinking and I am just willing it to be true ….. but in my heart I feel (or is it wanting to feel) that somehow we are onto a new horizon .

Can see us winning on Wednesday.

Not actually believed we'd win a game for weeks now.

I agree,I said in another thread was refreshing that we had 1v1 a couple of times at Stoke. I really can't remember the last time we had that with the hoofball style. We're not going to change overnight though but certainly a step in right direction

Good goals as well - on the ground, but not tippy tappy stuff. Fast build up, incisive passing and clinical finishing. The disallowed goal was the best of the lot.

Lets hope the people who make the decisions have the same vision as the fans.

I've watched the full 90 minutes and I must say it was like watching a different team to just a few weeks ago. OK we went 3-0 down but with a bit of luck we could have scored twice in the first half, and from open play :o Some of the passing and movement in the 2nd half I don't think we've seen since Dave Jones.

I'm looking forward to Wednesday and to go home having watched a win and without a stiff neck.

The changes that Morison made on Saturday were very welcome. But it's going to take time for the squad to get really comfortable with them. Playing more of a passing game and scoring good goals is what we've been crying out for and I hope it continues on Wednesday. I'm just looking to continue that improvement against QPR and hopefully get a win, it'd be nice to get a first half goal too, to get that monkey off our backs. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

A great comeback Saturday but I also think Stoke took their foot of the gas thinking they had secured the points and we caught them cold, hopefully QPR who are on a bit of a bad run themselves will catch us on a good night and we put them away. We need 3 points to build the confidence back up.

I agree, Annis; this does feel like a fresh start and why we could do worse than give Steve Morison an extended run until Xmas

Time would tell but I feel the answer may lie within...! :ayatollah:

We've got a long long way to go, but you're absolutely right and we actually played some football! :thumbright:

Baby steps , but going in the right direction.
Let's see where we are after the Huddersfield game .
IF we have pulled away from the bottom three , I would probably like Morison to be offered the job (temporary) at least until Xmas .
Then see where we are .
No brainer really , as he's already taking a wage , so it suits the cost cutting .

Couldn't agree more and the wage saved may enable the club to make a decent loan signing in January.

As far as the game on Wednesday is concerned QPR may not have as many fans as they hoped for according to their forum there are no return trains to London -

Soooo..... who is travelling to South Wales wednesday night ?
One here from Norfolk , thinking our away support for this game will be impacted by the fact that there are no trains back to London on the night & most will head to on the saturday Blackpool instead .

Annis, think you are spot on there, and the one stand out for me on Saturday was KM working, running, scoring with a smile not sulking about due to lack of ball to him like under MM, but think there's a bit of history there so now MM has left the building hopefully KM will get his head down and stay with us as I truly believe he would be off in January if MM was here.

I tend to agree mate but tbf we certainly took advantage of that; something I’m sure wouldn’t have happened a few weeks ago.

Well well to early to think we are on a new horizon.

Ok we stopped the rot Saturday BUT we only played 10 minutes of the game with production. The rest of the game was dire for us. Now someone has said above they believe Stoke wet to sleep. They could well be right and we took full advantage and got lucky. however, we were trying to play a different game to what we have been doing so let's give ourselves some credit.

Personally I feel Morison needs about 4 or 5 games to see if his ideas are going to stick with the squad he has. Will he get that chance? Who knows. QPR Wednesday will give us an idea of that.
