Brace yourselves everyone

Sat Oct 30, 2021 3:14 pm

The last time we got relegated from this level 84/85 we got relegated the following season as well. It then took us 18 years to get back to this level.sadly I believe we are in a similar free fall now.

No we will have to massively improve against QPR/ Huddersfield or we will be cast adrift .

Well you should be; seems the team pulled one out of the bag in the face of adversity after you raised your own white flag with the battle still raging ;)

Sorry for being so pessimistic but having followed city since 1975 I've seen far more failure than success .hence this feeling of impending doom.

As one who has followed longer, I can concur there has been more failure than success, which is why it often gobsmacks me that those here before the Sam revolution believe these are the worst of times...

For me, our modern support (post-Sam) is not prepared to 'dig in' when the tide inevitably turns, as it does for every club at some point

Even those at the top have their issues. Just look at ManUre and Spurs; their support is up in arms for the perceived 'failure' of being where we dream to be

Sometimes, the potential/dream of 'success' (however people want to measure that) is what drives supporters and keeps them keen. Often, actually 'getting there' can be a disappointment

Results this season have been poor and resulted in the worse run in our history but there is 'hope' for this season and there is 'hope' for the future

The club itself is not in its 'worse ever' poition and Vincent Tan is not the 'worse ever' owner (by some distance in fact) but he has been poorly advised and taken some (to us) poor decisions.

He has, to some extent, been the victim of internal and external circumstances that are having a lasting effect; but the good news is that currently he is 'covering' it in a way other owners currently cannot

This club will survive this and eventually ride the storm and eventually find a new custodian

The latter is a guaranteed matter of fact and time

I don't expect many 'modern' supporters to understand what went before Sam; but I would expect most of us more experienced (of the past) supporters to know that these are most definitely not the 'worse of times' right now and say so

It will help lift the current mood

Our club and team needs our support right now and stuff like that contained in the OP is, politely, less than helpful in the grand scheme...
