The Welsh Rugby Super Spreader event

Fri Oct 29, 2021 12:42 pm

What a time to say we may have to increase restrictions if there are no improvements, the day before 75,000 drunken fans pile into a stadium screaming and shouting "knock on and flakin tackle him" for 85 minutes.

God knows how many travelling in together in cars vans buses and trains then on the piss from ten till ten in unventilated pubs!

If this doesn't cause an increase in numbers, nothing will !

TfW stating they will be enforcing 'masks' on their trains...

Going to be an interesting battle of wits come the day, as the pandemic is once again cast aside in the self-interests of the many selfish, drunken clowns that invade our beloved city on days such as this....

Inside or out (of the stadium) far too many silly won't give a toss and won't be shy in letting those trying to deal with them know in their usual profanity-strewn but unexplainable way

I couldn't agree more.
In addition, not that I wish ill on anyone; but I'd have a sly smile to myself if Mr Drakeford tested positive next week as a result of attending this match, so soon after he has threatened more restrictions in two week time!

He's going...?

Another 'free-loading' hypocrite... :banghead:

He should take a look at Sir Keir Starmer, who has contracted Covid through no real fault of his own

Drakeford would not now be able to say that

We all know they do not make a blind bit of difference

In fairness. How many have attended premier league games with 50k plus in attendance since crowds were allowed back?? Bit unfair to just blame "selfish rugby fans" without thinking how many hundreds hundreds of 1000's have attended football matches, including us to a degree?

Yes agreed, but Rugby in Wales tends to be a bit different, it's an all day piss up and probably hundreds of thousands watching in pubs for most of the day and women with daffodil heads and kids are part of the proceedings, plus it's mass migration to the Capital so people from miles apart mixing and spreading their germs.

Let them enjoy it it's been a bad few years, but we should expect a rise in cases, so Drakefords timing isn't great.

I thought the vaccine was meant to end all these worries

That was the intention, its a crafty virus and it's very transmissible even if you've had the virus before or been vaccinated numerous times, but it has reduced the spread slightly and massively reduced the chances of hospitalisation and death for all but the very sick and very old.

They are working on 300 different vaccines to try and stop the spread, but no breakthrough yet, looks like we are going to have to live with it for a long time if not ever.

Sounds like endless booster jabs from the experimental vaccine companies.
Not for me, i just hope the vaccinated hurry up and get their booster jabs. Us unvaccinated folk aren't going into another lockdown because people were slow to get their booster.

So, we could be seeing a rise now, due to things being opened up again? We had the euros, the grand prix's , horse racing, tennis, and mass attendances at football matches, a lot of them before any passport "scheme" was put in place.
I just think it a tad hypocritical to have a go at people for their choice of which sport they follow, whilst the rest of us get on with our lives. :old: :bluebird:

I must have missed the Welsh Grand Prix, Welsh Wimbledon, Welsh Euros, the others not really a problem as they don't have millions drinking in the same pubs at the same time, how are the numbers going after these rugby events???

It was never advertised as a cure.

Just suppression, lesser transmission and allowing more to be able to fight it off as opposed to adding to health issues and killing them off.

Stop being a f@cking areshole! You know exactly what my point was, but as you obviously hate rugby and its supporters you choose to be sarcastic in your response!! Yes it's not all going on in Wales, so luckily this virus does the right thing, and stops at the border, being airborne an that!! Are you saying millions seriously?? That means the WHOLE of wales are in the pubs then?? Wont know about numbers regarding the rugby, bit soon to tell, but the rise in numbers lately? Whose feet does the blame lie there then? We have opened up everything, numbers were ALWAYS going to rise after millions have attended sporting events all over the country, or does nobody from wales go across the bridge anymore?

:laughing6: Chill grumpy, it's a post about Drakeford saying he's going to impose further measures if cases rise the day before a series of Rugby super spreader events in WALES, what the feck has Wimbledon and those other events got to do with it?

I don't hate Rugby, I watch the odd welsh game on telly if it doesn't clash with football, but the point was I felt that Drakeford has set Wales up for further restrictions, as with all these games and the way the Welsh public enjoy a beer and a shout in the pub on international day numbers were almost certain to increase.

Then maybe change the header? I'm not grumpy, but am not convinced the rugby is to blame solely? I cant have the jab, so everyone is a risk to me, but I get on with my life, and restrictions were ALWAYS coming, it's been said way before the rugby autumn series started,we were warned winter would be the time too! Drakeford is a 1st class dick no doubt, mini dictator that he is, but it wont be rugby that brings restrictions, as they were always on the cards.
Have you been to town on a Saturday night recently? I have, and its business as usual, packed out with thousands of piss heads, mingling freely, mask free etc! But they not to blame I guess? The busses I see have half wearing a mask half not! And yesterday in a supermarket the same! We have just got to live with this virus, pretty much like the flu.
And NO I'm not comparing the two, except for reference to longevity of the virus
