"I know fans and manager and media have said"

' I know the fans and manager and media have said how well we played yesterday '

Some will shoot me down, But I would rather say how it really is.

I dont want to be negative, but sadly the truth is we are not improving, we are sliding down the Championship.

We need to be realistic, 7 defeats from our last 8 games, only win v Forest who were bottom.

Not one point from a team who are above the bottom 7.

I honestly expected a win by Cardiff yesterday, I said it all week.

We were playing a Reading team who had the 2nd worst away record in the Championship, had lost their previous 3 away games and a very very mediocre team, the smallest players in the Championship and have No real big names, so Reading were their to be beat.

We never even scored against them, we were home, we never even got a point from them.

If we cant beat these type of teams, then we really will spend the rest of the season in the bottom 5.

For me this was a must win game as once again we will now be playing better teams.

Reading had 8 first team players out, we had a virtually fit squad other than the usual two players.

The fans backed the team yesterday :bluebird: supported them for 90 mins :bluebird:

We even had an extra 10mins added on and still could not score.

The league table and results dont lie, they are awful and we are sliding down fast, we need i will say again to beat clubs like Reading at home.

Their had to be an improvement, our football could not get any worse and this time we were playing a mediocre side i repeat.

We love our players when they try and yes they did yesterday :bluebird: but the problem is way bigger now.

AT THE END OF THE DAY ITS RESULTS THAT MATTER AND READING WERE THEIR FOR THE TAKING, THEY CAME TO DEFEND.

If we cant win these games, I will be honest, the next stage is bottom three.

It was indeed an improvement but it’s a results business and the stats aren’t good.

They had gained 10 points from their previous 5 games and we got 3. They have been scoring and we havnt. We have also been shipping goals all season. Not really a surprise we lost.

I said back in Nov 2020 this was coming. Without a change of Manager this would have happened last year. As it is MM has just delayed the inevitable.

I'd seen similar trends during the 80s and 90s, and I wasn't about to bury my head in the sand. I've accepted stick, and a lot of it, but it's been coming.

Thing was in the 80s and 90s we lived to expect it.

Annis, I agree with what you are saying above. The team had "a real go" yesterday. Us City fans will berate the team/players who don't seem to give their best, BUT will always always support and forgive the team/players who give everything. Yesterday was a team/players who gave everything. The disappointing thing to come out of yesterday was that although they gave everything, they could not beat or even score against as you say a mediocre Reading team. That's my biggest worry. We desperately need a decent left winger, otherwise Giles will continue to be crowded out as other teams know we have no other means of attack. Where we get him from I don't know, but Moore will not be getting any service until we do. I think when Giles hit the post yesterday, he probably genuinely tried it as he knew there was little point in keeping on delivering crosses to head. ;)

I’m all for a change of management because we have been in free fall and the football has been atrocious but no one can say that there wasn’t an improvement yesterday.

Followed City since 62/63, and apart from the latter part of the 2012/3 season, have never felt I'm watching a side heading for the drop.
McCarthy has a squad that, having lost 'impact' players from last season and not replacing them, is now boxed into a corner where we can only play one way to get a result - stop the other side scoring, and get a goal from one of our crosses or set pieces. It's one dimensional, and easy to nullify.
The thing is, yesterday the team probably played the best it possibly could. So it's not as if a new manager is going to get anything more from this squad. Take Moore for example. Last year he was equally - possibly more- dangerous with the ball at his feet. This season, the ball doesn't reach him.
If we're still in touch with the rest come the January window, then providing Tan recognizes his club is going down, and McCarthy can bring in 2 or 3 really decent players, then maybe MM should stay.

The lack of a cutting edge goes way back (before MMs appointment). We've got some good footballers that have developed bad habits and I'm not sure how we are going to change.

Sometimes an empty stadium is the loudest noise of the day. Why should I pay to see this dross.

I've given my season tickets to friends and family to share the experiences and pain of this lot.

I will be back though but when it suits me. Better things to do on a Sat and mid week than follow this sh.. show.

I just want to me entertained from time to time.

No I am not fu..... entertained . Not by long shot.

Its not simply about having loads of money to spend. Its about how you set up and players you bring in for those areas of the field that matter.

Full backs that are comfortable on the ball.

CB that can defend

CM that 100% ready for war. Bonus as well if they can fu... pass and create.

Front 3 that creates and has a bit of pace to get around the opposition.

Is that too much to ask for.

One more thing Cardiff City board. Just give me something to get behind you one more time. A statement would be nice.

Just seeing 11 blue shirts blowing on a washing line is far more interesting than this at the moment .

Ian right just said about Newcastle that its no good playing well and not winning. Its the same with us.

They were there for the taking yesterday, and came to defend, even more so after the goal, and we could not find a way through.
Better performance, but that was down to Reading not offering anything and allowing us the ball.
the worrying sign is for all that possession and shots we still could not score
plus points were mcguiness and smithies distribution, mcguiness looks a real steal, composed and also gives 110% in what i've seen this season
negatives were, Giles head dropped last 15 mins and so did his overall commitment to the game, crossing challenges...etc
keefier looks like he needs a goal/or a rest, baccuna seems to let the game pass him by,

Settling for a 1 nil loss against reading reserves
Big improvement this is taking longer than the harris sacking hanging on and on
its about changing our style of play and mick cannot seem to do it setting up to defend against w.b.a. and we still let 4 in
coventry did not set up to defend against the top team fulham but went for it and got there rewards
This is what fans imo are annoyed about this defeatest attidude without giving it a go from the manager which is rubbing off on the team .

If Mick was the owner - and he had a manager with those set of stats re goals, wins against top 10 sides etc etc
Mick would sack himself.

I doubt there is - BUT there needs to be a clause in any managerial contract that says if you lose 8 on the bounce - then you walk away without your contract being paid up.

Good luck Mick and TC but it's not working out for some reason.

Cardiff City is being driven into the ground,,, and the talk of further cutbacks will only accelerate this downward spiral. Not too difficult to predict that we could be back in the dungeon in a little under two years time if things continue the way they are.
How much will our club be worth to VT then?

I thought we were much better yesterday and with a bit of luck and the first goal we could have gone on to get 3 or 4 against an admittedly poor Reading side. Unfortunately everything is going against us these past 7 or 8 games. McCarthys selections until yesterday have been unforgivable in my eyes, but he changed things and we played good football just without that bit of luck like when Giles hit the post and it bounced along the line. Its not a case of "settling" for a 1-0 loss its more a very slim glimmer of hope that we can play football besides hoofball and that on another day we would have easily won that game and if we continue with that effort, those tactics and Colwill in place of Bacuna then we may just get out of this s**tshow of a slump.
Plus we need to recruit in January, a left back and some wingers at least.
