MY VIEW: IN A HALF EMPTY STADIUM JUNIOR HOILLET GIVEN AW

Sat Oct 02, 2021 4:00 pm

MY VIEW /OPINION:

IN A VIRTUAL EMPTY STADIUM JUNIOR HOILLET GIVEN AWAY BY CARDIFF CAME BACK TO HAUNT CARDIFF WITH THE WINNING GOAL TO SEND CARDIFF IN TO THE BOTTOM FIVE OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHERE DO CARDIFF GO FROM HERE?

THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK WILL BE HEAVEN TO MICK McCARTHEY AFTER 7 DEFEATS FROM OUR LAST 8 GAMES

MICK DROPPED PHILLIPS / COLLINS / WITH MOORE & GILES STARTING.

Cardiff had virtually a full squad of players to pick from, other than the usual 2 Tomlin & Vassell, whilst Reading had 8 first team players out injured.

Cardiff failed to register a single shot on target against WBA, conceded 9 goals in their last 2 games and lost 6 of the last 7 games.

Failed to take a single point of anyone above the bottom 7 of the Championship, with Cardiff fans singing your getting saxcked in the morning.

Today they played at home to Reading who had the 2nd worst away record in the Championship.

EVEN WITH 10 MINS OF INJURY TIME CARDIFF COULD NOT SCORE

FIRST-HALF:39th min: Readings first shot of the game.
A strike from ex Cardiff City hero Junior Hoilett made it 0-1
Hoilett never celebrated.
City had played well.

SECOND-HALF: City played well for the majority of the game, but failed to score against a poor Reading side and so lost once again.

CARDIFF CITY 0 READING 1
H-T 0-1
Crowd 18,400
Away Support 1,640 (Reading)

Cardiff City: Smithies; McGuinness, Flint, Nelson, Brown; Bowen, Ralls, Pack; Bacuna, Moore, Giles.

Subs: Phillips, Ng, Bagan, Vaulks, Colwill, Harris, Collins.

Cardiff were better team, but not really threatening, but the best they have played for ages :bluebird:

39th min: Readings first shot of the game.
A strike from ex Cardiff City hero Junior Hoilett made it 0-1
Hoilett never celebrated.

H-T 0-1

Cardiff by far the better team :bluebird:

61st min:
Bacuna off, Colwill on.

78th min:Ralls off, Vaulks on.

Bowen off, Collins on.

Cardiff played well.

We dominated but ultimately didn't put the ball in the net.

All of the saves by the Reading goalkeeper were saves I'd expect him to make. We didn't test him anywhere near enough.

A very bad result.

The sad thing is Hoilett is exactly the type of player we are crying out for.

Do we have no wingers worth a go in the U23s? Something has to be better than Bacuna or Colwill.

It's taken us too long to start passing and battling a bit but we still didn't have enough quality to beat a poor reading side. That's it in a nutshell.

Exactly, and the experience we badly miss. Hoilet at LWB would have been a better shout than our current options.

Better performance but still lost and could have played until midnight without a goal.

Just feel utterly sick. Didn't deserve that today. However, the results speak for themselves. We are going down. McCarthy needs to go and we need a fresh voice in the dressing room. The club needs to make some money available much like they did for Warnock when he came in to the club in October.

The worrying thing is we could be in the bottom 3 by the time we kick off against Swansea due to us playing Sunday

Improved performance but ultimately not good enough.
27 chances but only 5 on target and their small keeper wasn’t tested enough !

Not enough quality in the squad , unfortunately let down by the lack of business in the summer transfer window.

Difficult one to take that - deserved more from the game and the referee was shocking.

However, you can see fundamental flaws in all aspects of the game and I can’t seen that improving. I don’t think the players have down complete tools with the manager but maybe they know what is coming…

There are some real obvious changes that can quite quickly influence the team and have us playing better and I am surprised that a manager of Mick’s history cannot see this.

Never like calling for a managers head but needs to be freshened up - we have two options get a short term manager till end is season and then do want we with did when Malky came in - left with minimal players given a budget and build a squad for us to challenge. The other option is new young manager and try to change style half way through season. :ayatollah:

Got me this first option is the better whilst guaranteeing championship football. :ayatollah:

Not sure why MM persists with Bacuna and why have a centre back playing left back. Everyone around me are baffled as I am…….

First of all the stadium was over half full.

Very unlucky to lose this game but we are lacking a cutting edge up front.Much better performance and quite a bit of fight as well.
A decision needs to be made ASAP on Big Mick Sack or Back.

MM has a squad that can really only play one way. Today it showed that even when we're getting down the wings and putting in crosses, a weakened, mid-table side can cope against us quite adequately.

As for the 'virtual empty stadium' jibe, for those at the game it was actually a very entertaining 90+ minutes, a good atmosphere with the fans right behind the players..

Our season reminds me of Hull Citys relergation.

Holiet scored today but its not just him we let go Harry wilson Ojo who we had on loan then we lost Murphy Bennet and bamba all good experienced players and we replaced them with who no one.

Wake up ffs its not the manager is the problems our players not good enough and no manager can work this lot in a team that is going to win a game we are going down thanks to owners and lack of knowledge of the board.

Its very sad but you can lose the tallent we had last season that failed top 6 and expect anything higher it doesnt matter who we have as manager wilder the guy from Newport even Klopp we have been starved of money by the owners they are to blame not the manager
