Very angry tbh.
That second half performance was shocking. We were humiliated by Leicester. Our players just decided not to bother. There were some comical scenes to go with it.
The 1st half was fairly even with the luck going our way with the cross come goal from Naylor. Nothing much really happened besides that. The second half it was all Leicester. Tbh that second half performance reminded me of QPR home, Sheff Wed away and Ipswich away. It was frightening and dont use the excuse we had 5 main guys out.
I am really struggling to think if any one of our players in that second half were playing football. Whittingham gave everything away and Marshall did a repeat of a goal kick from the Notts County pre-season friendly. It was embarrising. FFS
After the Hull game I had my doubts about our squad. Hull are in turmoil which most did not consider. Leicester are average but they made us look very poor. I would say that anyone who went tonight will be asking question about how strong really in our squad.

I would sat its a pretty good excuse? its not just 5 of our players but our 4 of them are our best players.
Looking at the bench im not sure what sort of plan B anyone would expect? the team that finished the game is league one midtable team....but by that time we were missing Bellamy, Jay, Chopra, Oli, Drinkwater, McPhail, Koumas and im sure that would effect anyteam, especially a team in financial trouble and only able to bring loans in.

Luke, we could have put out a team from the academy and we would have been more productive. From the start of that second half they simple just switched off.

Would have taken a draw before kick off due to the injuries but by the sound of it Leicester deserved the win. Does annoy me a bit when DJ blames tiredness....it's the start of the season FFS the squad should be at its fittest?! Barring injuries of course.
Bit worried that our second string (Rae, Mcphail) lacked the stomach to fight 2nd half but then again we knew that before! Harsh perhaps but i'm concerned that if we don't keep Oli, DD, Jay, Chops & Bellers fit ALL season our team will be fairly average.. I like the lad Keogh but he's no replacement for Jay and he can't play the lone role in our 4-5-1 so once again we have failed to address the 2nd most problematic position....back up for Jay
Still looking forward to Ipswich, another ground off the list

If i had a quid for the amount of times i've thought that over the last few years i'd be a millionaire!!! As you rightly said Sheff Wed away springs to mind..

Squad stretched a bit too far today, but let's be honest most of that team we put out today were shite so what do people expect when we come up against a decent team?
Apart from Koumas (if he ever regains form/fitness), Whitts (if he shows up) and arguably the full backs it's a bunch of sub-par journeyman who are mid-table champ players at best. All our class was in the physio room so let's not get too carried away.

just got back myself.
long time since i have seen such a weak performance, we were battled out of it. we had 5 in midfield, koegh didnt get a look in, to my memory we didnt have a shot on goal, our actual goal was a freak 40 yard cross that went in.
whitts may aswell not bothered, burke never got the ball........i could go on!!
hudson was the best player in a yellow shirt!!
without oli, drinky and jay we looked weak as piss through the core of the team.
fair play the leicester fans created a decent atmosphere even if some of there chants were a bit tasteless towards dave jones!!

It's saying something when old Hudson's yr best player, lol. Rae doesn't cut it anymore in the middle and I don't think mcphail does either.
Oh well onwards and upwards we'll hammer the swich with jay oli and beliers back
Wed Sep 15, 2010 5:51 am
I agree that was as poor a performance as I have seen in a long time. I am really concerned about Ipswich away if we don't get some of the guys back. To be honest it looks to me like our season could depend on how often we put out our best eleven. The warning signs are there for everyone to see against Hull and Leicester.
Wed Sep 15, 2010 6:01 am
We had a team with a midfield consisting of Rae and McPhail so why is it surprising that the can't be bothered attitude has returned?
Both players have cursed us for the past 4 or 5 seasons and we will never progress until both are shown the door.
Wed Sep 15, 2010 8:48 am
We ha no fight in midfield. And 4/5 of our midfield are lazy players who don't chase back for the ball at some points Keogh was chasing back and our midfield would jus be standing round then if we got The ball and played it up the field only Burke would make he effort to try and get it and keep it in play then he would have none of our plYers near him and as much as I like Burke and think he is a cracking player he isn't good enough to be the only attacker working. But no player should have to try and cope with that so in the end he gave up and become like the rest of midfield

Hull did OK last hight !! Any team is only as good as you allow them to be.

Yes and we allowed them to be good did we not in that second half. It was like they sussed us out in the first half and soon unlocked us. As I said earlier guys were going on about a plan B of which we did not have one last night. DJ needs to earn his money when it comes to games like last night but he cannot be bothered with a plan B.
After their first goal I felt a slight change would have made a big difference even if it meant bringing someone one to buck the guys up or make a change in our shape. That first goal we may as well let them walk the ball into the net, it was too simple. We lost our shape and it was painful to watch.
Regarding Hull they played a weak Derby side last night on a terrible run. We did allow them to play in the second half at CCS and I thought DJ would have picked that up. Unfortunately he did not and we paid for the same attitude last night.
Wed Sep 15, 2010 9:44 am
Olly was missed big style.
Rae is just a bag of shite. He jogs about the pitch ball watching, never picks up his man.
McPhail is awful on his right. Players know now to pressure him and force him right. He has to turn and use his left.
And when play them together they just drop deep and allow the opposition to come forward.

Last season, when we lost a game - it seemed to gee the team on and we went on good runs. The bubble had to burst some time and I think it was a good thing because it reminds players and fans alike that we aren't imortal and we need to work bloody hard if we are to gain promotion. Just because we have Bellamy and co in the squad, it doesn't guarentee victories.
Agreed that only the top 3 in the Prem could deal with that sort of injury list but we were good enough to go 1-0 up so we should have been good enough to defend. This will hopefully be the start of a nice long run starting at Ipswich. Just wish Chops was fit to put a hat-trick past Keano!

B99 we always get the usual over reaction from our fans after a poor performance. This wont be our last poor performance of the season and we wont be the only club to play so poorly over the season.
Christ how many people last season said lets go into admin now and lose the points as we can stay up and have no chance of going up with this team anyway...im sure they didnt feel the same Play off final morning (fact we didnt go up kinds spoilts my point mind

)
As for the point of plan B I do believe we have one now when we have more players fit, is unluky that all the players injured are of the same kind of positions. Lets be honest im not sure Mourinho could change the game about with a bench of 22 Heaton, 14 Quinn, 18 Taiwo, 23 Blake, 27 Matthews, 28 Wildig, 52 Jarvis

Good post Steve.

Hard work being the operative words here. A bit of graft in the second half and we could have come away with something.
