“ Ciaron Brown “

Mick McCarthy says he has offered Ciaron Brown a new deal, but the centre-back has yet to put pen to paper.

Tuesday 14th September 2021

Their was interest from Brown's former Bluebirds manager Neil Warnock, who wanted to take him up at Boro during the summer transfer window.

McCarthy claimed Boro's bid was "nowhere near enough and more of a token gesture " and the Northern Ireland international ended up staying put.

Now apparently Rangers want to sign Ciaron Brown on a pre-contract in January.

No one has actually offered any real money for Brown and so remains a Bluebird for now.

McCarthy says “If we receive a fair offer we will sell the lad.”

At the moment Brown is struggling to make McCarthy’s starting 11.

I don't think he will sign a contract with us if I'm honest.

He did very well in Scotland with Livingston - starting games and scored 1 or 2 goals. He will want to play week in week out and at the moment he is on the bench waiting for one of Morrison, Flint or Nelson to be dropped through injury or form.

He wouldn't have even been on the bench if Bacuna hadn't have gone down in the warm up vs Forest.

We cant say whether he is good or bad for us as he hasn't had many games and even then he hasn't been at CB

I think his time is coming to an end with us

Suspect he is now even behind McGuiness if one of the three centre backs is injured so even more reason for him to leave. The club is trying to get some money for him but don't think anyone is really willing to pay much of a fee for him. Only reason for keeping him is he does provide some cover at right back though he is not really a full back.

There’s no way he is going to sign a new contract for us unless he’s playing when other clubs are interested! I think we should sell either Flint or Morrison in January as they’re too similar and bring through Brown and McGuiness.

Annis I was told that he was offered a new contract during the transfer window and he turned it down, and he told the club he wanted to leave. This was during the time that Warnock was showing interest, but offered cheeky money

Roger,

Probably true , as most of these players brought in to the first team squad are only being paid £400 a week, even many Welsh Premier League clubs are paying £450 a week.
Why do you think we have so many at once.

It sounds great we are saving a lot of money, but many of these players will move on if they do well for us.
We also will fail to attract quality.

An example is little Penybont, two of our players from last seasons CCFC U23’s joined them and were on £400 at City and are now on £450 there.
