World Cup every two years, what do you make of that?

MICK McCARTHY:

I only caught a bit of it last night.

If I’m a player who could play in the World Cup every two years I’d be delighted.

Personally, building up to a World Cup it takes a lot of organising. It’s the format I’ve been used to and I’ve never been looking to change it.

It was always really exciting as a kid and more exciting to play in one.

I don’t know (if it devalues it). I remember 20-odd years ago when Sky came and we were moaning about playing Monday nights and Sunday afternoons, having a whinge about that, and that went particularly well and changed the face of English football, the value of it.

At the time, the first division, clubs were skint.

Sometimes people don’t like change.

Who knows? I don’t know the answer to it and I’m not going to try and give one!

They propose to alter the calendar so let's wait to see what they propose going to be difficult if UEFA wont change the European championship as it will fall in same year unless alter the year it starts.

Bet no one has bothered asking the players. Assuming the Euros slot in between, then 3 of every 4 summers are taken up by international football. Or they do the Euros every 2 years as well and no summers off at all. Not to mention the expanded European club competitions, squeezing the qualifiers into a shorter time and the shit new 48 team WC from 2026 meaning it has more games and lasts longer.

You’ll never get another Zlatan, Buffon, Ronaldo type player again. Footballers bodies will have packed it in by the time they’re 30.
