Crossing the ball

Thu Sep 09, 2021 8:42 pm

Struggling to find a genuine winger who can actually cross the ball properly. Can you think of one? Secondly, who was the last City side player who could cross the ball well from the byline? Don’t include Witts as I put him as a midfielder

Ryan Giles. If you asked any other season I'd have no answer. But Giles clearly has a quality delivery.

I agree with Willy Anderson. A great player. For the oldies I can go back to the late 60’s / early 70’s in Barry Jones. Who else remembers him? I have to say Wayne Routledge when he played for us was excellent as well. And yes I agree about Giles. Can anyone think of another?

Who can forget the legendary no 7 And those two corners at end of league cup final our of this and any other world.... not a winger but still the best crosser of a ball seen in many long years at city

Dave Bennett was a top quality winger with plenty of service for Hemmerman. :bluescarf:

I remember Grapes was a great crosser but if my memory serves me right he wasn’t what we’d call a tricky / speedy winger. Brian McDermott was another to fall into the same category.
