Just Negative Football

What is it with these managers?

Playing a must win game at home against poor opposition and we play a straight back four with 2 defensive midfielders in front of them.

As a result, there was no urgency last night with utter complacency ensuing. Our full backs were utterly appalling and in the case of Gunter bar once in the last stages of the match, he played virtually every ball backwards and signifying taking no responsibility at all.

In fact, modern day football seldom sees an overlapping full back or a true winger.

Well done Dan James last night for always trying to do something. Football is more and more resembling chess. Boring and lifeless.

And finally, why try to walk the ball in? Just bloody well SHOOT.

My observation was no urgency as I've said earlier in our play until 70th minute considering it was a must win game and not a must not lose game...... but it is the modern way and is tending to be boring to watch... last might lots people in lounge not bothered to watch game even on tv preferring to chat and have drinks ? Funn part is they didn't miss anything until late into game .

Agree with most of what you said, but Dan James' crossing was shocking, even sending one corner straight out of play. Expected more from a £25m winger.

Because the coaches are all coached the same way.

A manager from a different generation playing a pretty direct 433 by-passed a crowded midfield and we got promoted when on paper we shouldn't have.

They are all coached to fear the transition so it's slow and safe as they don't want to give the ball away. The problem for us was Jonny Williams for all his neatness inevitably loses the ball and that is why he is in L2.

When you look at Warnockball, you can play football but in the attacking third, if you lose the ball there the opposition still has a lot of ground to cover. But the ball went forward quickly, so at worse, we were in the middle third.

Dan James is not a winger in the old sense his final ball is poor, he is a forward who wants to run towards the goal rather than the byline, but he wants it far quicker than he gets it now as he is stationary with one defender on him and another covering.

Page has to go, but not for another modern Eufa coaching badges robot, we need a thinker..... Perhaps someone like Bellamy has different ideas

agree with lots of this...ex players swallowing hook line and sinker what someone with little or no practical experience read in a book in the 90s ,got themselves ahead of the game badge wise and are now preaching from the book that was not written by a Busby, Revie or shankly type in the first place....you mentioned Warnock but lots of these cliched progressive modern young hipster graduates ..as well as doing their badges have actually also played for many good and varied { re ideas } managers , you would think that previous experiences would be more visible ..
have to say...isnt CB one of these osian/. dutch ray prodigies....?
