NET-ZERO CARBON FOOTBALL MATCH IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE

Mon Sep 06, 2021 8:28 pm

Yes you heard it right
Tottenham vs Chelsea will be the 1st ever match in the world to be a Net-Zero Carbon football match which means Spurs will only sell vegan food and advises fans to travel via bike or public transport. Alongside this it means that club staff will have to find a better way to get to the stadium alongside the players who will take only coaches to the game instead of cars. This could be the 1st match to kick off the football world in targeting a net zero future in football to help battle Climate Change.

What are YOUR thoughts?

To be fair, teams like Forest Green have been leading the way on this.

Just out of interest, will either of the teams and/or the match officials use a plane/motor vehicle to get there? Same goes for officials of each club.

That's why it's practically impossible to have a professional football game that is net zero carbon.

Probably a reason why this game has been selected for it. One of the shortest journeys for Chelsea to make and will be done by bus.

CAn't fault them for trying though :ayatollah: Climate change is gonna be a real bitch in the future

"carbon offsetting" is a deluded process and a distraction from the effort that needs to be made.

Your right, Forest Green have been involved with this for many years. The owner's business is Ecotricity and has been promoting carbon neutral football - https://www.ecotricity.co.uk/our-news/2 ... l-football
I went to a preseason game there years ago and vegan burgers were the available fare and I believe all the players follow a vegan diet too. Wouldn't want to spend to much time in their dressing room with all that farting.
