I wouldn't personally.
As a fan, I think you'd always make decisions that would be too emotive. This could lead to taking risks that, although may feel a good idea at the time, could be detrimental to the future of the club.
To do well as an owner of a football club, you need to have a level head. I'm not sure that can happen if you're also a supporter of that club.
It would be far too likely for your heart to rule your head.
Would possibly buy a small amount of shares and maybe then have the opportunity to sit on the board, but never go as far as being the person that is running the club.
Going back years, it would be local people who would own the clubs. But now, particularly in the top two tiers, there is a lot more to running a football club than there was then. Being a supporter of the club and being the owner would just complicate things.
Besides, you would need a lot more than £80m. While that would be enough to buy most clubs, it's also a fact that most clubs in the top two tiers operate on a loss. That £80m would be gone very quickly, so therefore you would need several high value investors.
To be in a possession to succesfully run a football club, you will need to start with a mid to high nine-figure amount and ideally have a number of other businesses too.

80 million is nowhere near enough.

My thoughts exactly, but if I had the money, I'd buy it and sell it. Even if I lost 50% I'd probably survive on £40M til I die!

Buy it and sell it?

if i was rich enough, 100% yes. Cardiff City has the potential to be a giant club, i mean, you look at most of the big clubs, theres usually 2/3 sometimes alot more clubs competing with each other in the same area, you get cardiff going right, and you could easily have large chunks of wales watching. although if i was rich and money no object, i would probably prefer to buy a non league club, and work my way up. the emotionl of all decisions would be removed as i wouldnt be a fan

I would most definitely buy Leeds if I had £80 million.
Turn that into £200 million really quickly selling Phillips, Bamford and Raphina.
Sell the club.

So you'd use the '
Swansea Formula' as a rule of thumb...?

Racehorse will lose you loads, boats a fortune and a football club will take all your money and demand more, ask Sam and Tan !!!
I wouldn't put in a penny ever, even if I won £3000Billion!!!
