The pricing for the game on Wednesday Is ridiculous, no wonder there’s about 14,000 empty seats. £30+

How much are England/Scotland tickets these days? I thought that was about right for an international game.

A lot of money for a game like that.

If we were playing someone on a similar or better level to us then I'd understand.

It shouldn't matter who we are playing though, should it? It's a World Cup qualifier... a tournament we haven't qualified for since 1958. The pricing has gone up and I understand certain people are nervous because of Covid but this should still be a sell out.

Its because Wales isn't a Football nation despite what people try to say when it suits.

When we qualified for Euro 2016 or Cardiff and/or Swansea were in the Premier League it was easy to try and say but the truth is Wales is a country that has a huge 'fickle following' in all sports, you could even include Glamorgan in that with the cricket.

Iv been away with Wales as have many others when there would be 3-400 even less then all of a sudden a bit of relative success and yoi can't get a ticket for love no money but it will go full circle again, especially if we persevere with Page

Its a world cup qualifier mate, it doesn't get much bigger than that.

30 to watch Wales in a world Cup qualifier is a bargain compared to 35 to watch Cardiff play away at QPR in the second tier of English Football behind the goals with shocking view and shocking facilities for example.

Our attendances have been decent the last few years. Maybe it’s something to do with the pandemic. Attendances have been down in the championship too. Rugby nation? Cardiff blues and ospreys get about 4K fans. Even less this season with games free to air.

even when football is at the bottom end of the circle it really still is a football nation though.... international rugby being the anomaly but thats the case in other countries too..... even Italy have had seasons where international rugby has been better attended than the football internationals.....but nobody in their correct mind would say the when it suits thing about Italy ? more Welsh people attend football...play football..and watch football on TV its not even close......never has been no matter how much the selfie at the arms park but wouldnt recognise a player brigade and the western mail say otherwise..

There’s officially more football clubs registered than rugby clubs in Wales.

Wales rugby not going to well either my daughter got tickets for Australia and she is not a member of any club and as had tickets for previous games ... normally wouldn't get aussie tickets unless members of a club and only returned tickets go to joe public... Estonia won't sell out thats for sure to some they are small team so wait for bigger nations ... I think minimum £30 for this match is to high especially if want to sell it out.

Not bothered by what the Rugby do mate tbh, just think as a so called Football Nation we should be selling out for world cup qualifiers regardless of the opposition given our recent 'success', this is like a the glory days for Welsh Football isn't it?

So taking all that on board, whats the reason we can't sell out or close too for a home World Cup Qualifier during one of the most successful periods ever when we have an entire nation to pull fans from other than Welsh People are fickle when it comes to ALL sports?

I would say anything under 25,000 is shocking.

We used to still be able to pull 12-14,000 playing the likes of Belarus at the Millennium Stadium when we truly were awfull.

I never mentioned rugby in my initial post once.

Awkward...

You said Wales were not a football nation. What is our nations sport then? Tidliwinks? It’s like saying Rangers are not the best team in Scotland. That is clearly implying that Celtic are.

No I didn't I said Wales 'is not', but never mind and you shouldnt assume anything or put words in people mouths, you have done that already and been proved wrong so learn from it.

In answer to your question I don't think we really have a national sport.

I think Welsh people follow whatever is popular or doing best at the time and it also depends on where you live.

In the town where I live we have a Rugby Team with a Rugby Club who get about 100 watching them and a Football Team who play out of a pub who get watched by two men and a dog.

Thats not to say Rugby is bigger than Football, I genuinely don't think we have a national sport.

When Joe Calzaghe who doing well everyone was a boxing fan, when Glamorgan did well in the 90s everyone was a cricket fan. When Wales qualified for euro 2016 or cardiff/Swansea are in the premiership everyones a football fan, when Wales win the six nations everyone's a rugby fan.

Wales is traditionally a nation of fickle glory hunters who support and drop their teams as soon as it suits them.

I get what you're saying and it's a fair point.

But I would make the point there should be a tiering system for prices of different international home games (as I think there definitely has been in the last) like there is for most clubs.

I don't think it should be the same price for when we're playing Gibraltar as it is when we play Italy in the same group at home, for example.

For a game like this, they could charge £20 or even £25 and they'd have a better chance of getting a good crowd which would bring in more money.

Not going myself tomorrow, mostly because evening games are difficult for me (whether it's a Cardiff or Wales game) due to there being no trains back on the same night and the fact I don't drive. But if I lived locally, I would definitely be there.

Would definitely encourage those who can go and can afford it, to go. Because, as you rightly say it's a big deal to watch Wales in a World Cup qualifier.
