We are back where we were all those years ago

Thu Sep 02, 2021 2:50 pm

we’re back in mid table with a threadbare squad and the same financial woes. There’s clearly no long term plan or strategy at the club.
What are our plans? does anybody know?

Vincent Tan noes owns three clubs and is now majority shareholder in his latest club
Why does he buy these clubs? He died not watch them or even show interest in them.
But anyway who gives a toss about the other two clubs, our Bluebirds are not progressing and it is a worry.
Maybe just maybe our Accademy players will at least keep us middle of the Championship.

Are we still for sale?

Same financial woes???

Not even close.

No HMRC looking to wind us up for a start.

We own our stadium, we have facilities out of this world all around south Wales, remember before Tan came dave Jones was moaning they didn't have anywhere to train.

How do you know there is no long term plan or strategy at the club?

My take is we will be relying much more on home produced players supplemented with bargain experienced players who become available when their contracts expire.

The aim being to comply with FFP (aka Profitability & Sustainability) and avoiding points deductions/fines that other clubs are facing.

It will be a struggle and may take years to bore fruition but it is the sensible long term aim and I fully back the plan.

Be careful as I would put my house on the fact Ninian27 will claim in the not to distant future that he was 'hounded' when he expressed his opinion.

For the record he is not being 'hounded' just told that his personal opinion doesn't make much sense :D

You clearly haven’t been around this club for very long.

Are you seriously saying that we’re back in the days when we were having to have fire sales of our best players ?

Or even going further back when we didn’t have a pot to p*^^ in and were in the old 4th division ?

Get a bleeding grip !!

You may not like the current regime, fair enough. But please don’t compare this with the nightmares we went through to get to this point !

Some people really do have short memories.

We can go back to the dark days if you like, when we didn't have a pot to piss in and our crowds were low every week in a stadium that was slowly falling apart (as much as I loved Ninian Park, that was the truth).

Or maybe you want us to trade places with the fans of clubs like Bury?

I am not a supporter of the current ownership but it has to be said we are very fortunate.

A lot of clubs out there are wondering how long they can carry on due to being crippled by Covid.

Even on a smaller scale, you only have to look over to Swansea who have had to get rid of all their best players and bring in mediocre replacements. Because they have an owner who wants to make money and that's all (they made a net profit on deadline day). Our owner doesn't break the bank either, but we have kept hold of our best players. They could easily have accepted £5m for Moore if they really wanted to, like the Jacks accepted £2m for Roberts and £1.5m for Lowe.

Then there are morons on here who are moaning because we didn't bring in a new player on deadline day.

It just beggars belief sometimes.

Nope, we are not and we are nowhere near...! :|

Look at the table and then come back and moan about the style of play, if you like; but come into the real world where we are way ahead of where we were before Warnock's almost surreal (but welcome) upward 'blip' ;)

Vincent Tan has, in my opinion, made two big mistakes:-
1) Changing the colour of the strip;
2) His management team.

The first one more or less alienated the fan base, but I wonder why his management team didn't explain the inevitable consequences with the fanbase and talk him out of it.

The second one is really hard to understand though. He is obviously a very successful businessman and appears to have backed the team with far more money than any other owner since I've been watching in the late sixties, yet he does not seem to realise that they appear to have done a very poor job and wasted millions of pounds.

I agree with the previous responses that we're nowhere near where we were, but given the amount that he has invested feel that we should have been in a much better position and I blame his management team.

We are further forward than we have ever been at anytime when we weren’t run by Tan.

We're financed by Tan, but more or less run by Dalman and Choo and while we may be further forward than previously, I think a lot of Tan's financing has been wasted and we should have been at least competing with the likes of Fulham for example.

Agreed, but mostly after a lot of Tan's investment had been wasted.
