Transfer window

How does everyone feel on the clubs business or lack of it?

As a club, we have been told by the chairman most often how the club during Covid lost money and how tan was rumoured to be putting in the sum of £3 million.

The summer came and we let a number of higher earners contract run out saving a significant chunk of wages.

The fans are back and the wage bill is significantly lower so why the lack of urgency? We are crying out for a creative and pacey winger/ central midfielder.

4 signings bought in, Collins, mcguiness, wintle and Giles with wintle already going back out on loan?

Are fans annoyed by this? How are we feeling? I for one would’ve liked to have seen some more urgency in singing people because we do need pace in midfield as Bacuna is not the right sided attacker!

25 hours to go though bluebirds so who knows <o> \o/ <o>

I’ll probably get ridiculed for this, but our business on a whole was poor. But did we expect anything less? Giles is the one but of quality brought in. Collins is decent at best, we know nothing of McGuinness and Wintle who is ‘highly regarded’ has been shipped out for some unknown reason.

There’s plenty of players currently without a club who we could look at, but there’s more chance of Bale coming home.

I’d actually like us to go and get Jack Wilshire on a pay as you play deal. Weather or not he would be interested in that remains to be seen.

Robbie Brady and Josh Sims are two we could potentially look at, both free agents.

It's about what I'd expected really.

Some might have hoped we'd be more active in the market, but I'm not sure many expected it.

I think it's a marginally better squad that last season but I would also say the competition is stronger than last season.

I do believe a fair few Championship sides have had a worse window than us.

Tend to agree with all that, Ned...

This, like last, will be an unusual season for financial (or lack of) reasons and most teams are on a bit of a wing and a prayer, whilst acouple of teams, specifically Fulham and West Brom, are 'lucky' to have held on to their best players due to said lack of cash preventing other clubs moving for them...

There seem to be clubs like Norwich, Fulham and West Brom (call them yo-yo clubs if you like) that always seem to manage to hang on to their better players when they get relegated and buy some quality performers at Championship level to ensure that they are challenging for an immediate return to the Premier League.

For me what has been very disappointing is that when we've been relegated we've never really been challenging the following season despite the benefit of two sets of parachute payments and of course it seems that the longer the stay in the division the harder it is to get out of it.

How do teams like those mentioned above manage to do it but we seem to struggle to do likewise?

We always bought the wrong players because we had the wrong kind of managers to take club forward... we did short termism with NW and malky was like a kid in sweet shop with all the money he had unfortunately the sweets were never ending gobstoppers! As for the mentioned clubs they've spent money they dont have to speculate that they will go back up... I've said this is the norm now for relegated teams and it makes promotion for rest championship very hard as last season showed with two relegated clubs going up automatically..... think only way it will change is for us us to have new owners with a different mindset of tan and his let's get proven managers that is safe and dont need to spend my money to get promotion? For that we have malky and tan to thank for situation.
