It’s going to be an average season

Sat Aug 28, 2021 4:11 pm

We look like a mid table side whose average everything.

I can’t see us being anywhere near the top 6 sadly.. we look very average and I thought our bench today was poor not really many options to come on and change the game.

Unless we bring in 3 players and I know we won’t be as he’s already said no more incomings we won’t challenge for the top 6

Genuine question - if we’d sneaked a win today would you be thinking the same?
I’m asking because we all feel a bit down after a city loss but it can change pretty quickly and I for one reckon we’ll win at forest in our next game.

I thought we were better than Bristol City today and didn’t think a defeat reflected the game. However what does worry me:

1. They outfought us, especially when they got ahead the 2nd time. Quicker to everything in mind and body.
2. Everything into the box came from wide - Bristol City knew this and just backed up defenders to head balls away. We need something creative to change the point of attack through the middle.
3. Mick can’t persist with Bacuna up front. No more needs to be said.

Was really surprised Bowen wasn’t on the bench given the reviews he got in mid week.

All fair points there tbf

This was the theme before the season started and then we were world beaters after some good results before plummeting the depths again after today's result; a game we nee not have lost...

Fickle according to results and the time of the month... ;) :laughing6:

Well can confidently say we wont be top 2 in fact be extremely surprised if WBA Fulham are not top 2 ......said at beginning of season theres 4 places to be taken and nearly all teams in championship have a chance. Including us.

I’ve said all pre season I don’t think we’d make the top 6.

At parts we actually played quite well today but look at the option of the bench the subs done quite well when they came on but we’ve got nothing else. We lack creativity bad and I’ve said that for a long time.

He’s consistently playing bacuna and 99% of fans can see he isn’t the answer!

Not signing a creative midfielder will come back and haunt us it’s not like we can rely on tomlin.

Not having a solid left back will come back on us aswell I like bagan but he’s not ready imo for a full season playing every week.

You know what, post covid etc I'll take it. 2004/05, 2014/15 are the only other two times I can remember us being plodding / rudderless and very mid table since I started going to games in 2001. The rest of the time we have had some form of interest, playoff surge / cup run / prem activity. You get these once in a while...if 2021/22 is it, so be it. A Cardiff that's solid in the Championship is what many of us hoped for growing up! Lol

As for the prem...hated it. Unless you have Shaike / Russian / Yank money, forget it

Could have sworn that was our first defeat of the season and that we had been unbeaten in our first 4 league games but I must be following a different team?

f**k me who needs enemies when you have fans like ours, get a grip.

If we'd been playing one of the better teams I doubt that people would have been so disappointed, but Bristol are hardly likely to be near the top six. So unless we improve a lot I've also got a feeling we're going to see an average season, but hopefully with a good number of the youngsters developing in the team.

I don't think it's being fickle, but more realistic.

I'm in the average season camp.

For me this is a season to test out the lads from the Academy. I just hope they can do enough to avoid the drop. I'm confident they will.

With you on this.I said around 10th in pre season, and with developing youngsters, that would be ok in my book, everone banging on about splashing the cash. Can obviously forget it, we move on, what will be will be.CCFC.

We are just 5 games in - Both FULHAM and WBA ... Are the teams who have the best squads and are the main players .

The club I would be worried about is SHEFF UTD ( With all their misfiring strikers )

So for me - Mid table - Top 6 ??? As I think both FULHAM and WBA .....Will be up there all season .

Next 11 games will see us a third of the season in:

Sat Sep 11 Nottingham Forest A
Wed Sep 15 Coventry City A
Sat Sep 18 A.F.C. Bournemouth H
Sat Sep 25 Blackburn Rovers A
Tue Sep 28 West Bromwich Albion H

Sat Oct 2 Reading H
Sat Oct 16 Swansea City A
Tue Oct 19 Fulham A
Sat Oct 23 Middlesbrough H
Sat Oct 30 Stoke City A

Wed Nov 3 Queens Park Rangers H

For me we have had a favourable run of games to start, this next run of games will end with us knowing where we stand

i would, pack and bacuna are shit, end of - said no different since i first saw we were getting them and they ain't proved me wrong.

worst midfield in championship, probably EFL - it is that bad.

Ralls past his sell by date, or maybe he's being made to look bad or do too much because of the other two clowns.

not sure where to start with back 4, may as well just play morrison and flint up front because we are not going to score many with feet!

all fans are fickle, because they care and don't like being mugged. Opinions, some see through rose tinted glasses others say as they see, some are just deluded!

Plenty. It means that we’ve been good enough to beat 2 and draw with 2 sides so far and we’re 9th. Lots of young lads being bedded in and they need a chance.

It was also going to be an average season when you take all things into account. Mid table championship side for the foreseeable future. Just enjoy the footy if you can with the away days and all that comes with. :occasion5: :bluescarf:

It does make you wonder why us fans bother to go if we know it's going to be either a relegation battle or pointless mid table season Add a lack of ambition to the mix ect ect I really do wonder why I bother to make 5hour+ return journey ? :laughing6:

Exactly and we always have optimism for upcoming season regardless of what' we do in transfer window or who the manager is? And if it fails we'll be back next season optimistic as always.... :bluescarf:
