Mick McCarthy: “ Hopes Lee Tomlin “

Thu Aug 26, 2021 1:32 pm

Updated:

Just found out that Tomlin, had a cold last week that’s what he told club ( Not Covid) and this week not feeling well but MICK has been kept on the dark and not happy.

It’s international break next week, so let’s hope he returns to training and gets fit and we get some value out of him . As I said he will come good at some point as needs to find a club for next season .

MICK McCARTHY:

Mick McCarthy expected Lee Tomlin in training this week, he hasn't been in yet but hopes he will be back training tomorrow.

"Tomlin was expected back last week, now this week, hopefully, we will see Tomlin in for training tomorrow>

"So no real news on Tomlin, Vassell is closer to a full comeback."

My View:

Poor Mick said virtually the same last week, never heard from Tomlin or saw him and hoped he would be in last Friday.

The week before that Tomlin had a cold.

Once again another Friday.

Eventually Tomlin will return and shine for a couple of months as he will need to find a new club, same old story.

30 odd starts for Cardiff City in nearly 4 years, Hmmmmmmmmmm?????

When I think about who's in our squad and how much quality we have, I don't really consider Tomlin - which says it as really.

Shame because he is talented.

So much talent Ned, totally wrong attitude at all his previous clubs and sadly at ours.

Drives me nuts! So much creative ability, but has been like the invisible man with us. With an "injury" record like that, which club would want him if they were going to have to pay his wages?

I can't see Tomlin getting back in the squad.

Painful as it sounds but we are going to have to run down his contract.

I thought this was a post from last week.Deja uv.
He must be in the treatment room everyday surely.
You don't stay at home with a muscle injury.
Some managers just don't bother with injured players.
I've given up on him as well. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluebird: :bluebird:

most managers mate....they have enough going on with the 20 odd available or who might be available than to be worrying about people who are miles off

Surely if a player fails to honour his protracted terms the contract can be terminated. Why should the club continue to honour their part of the contract if he comes & goes as he pleases. They were quick to terminate Mendez-Laings contract for breach.

im sure if the club could they would...huge difference here in being ill and failing 2 drugs tests...

Really wrong that a player can act like this as any other normal business would have sacked or disciplined their employee if they behaved like Tomlin and that are staff who earn less in a year than Tomlin earns in a week.

I would have thought the club can punish him as he clearly is not keeping in touch with his manager , I agree a talented player but a lazy shit house with a bad attitude

Of course he’s not in breach of his contract like Mendez was.
Whether we like it or not he’s ‘injured’ or ‘ill’.

Silly post.

I really hope this time things work out for Vassell. Such bad luck and he's clearly worked hard to get fit. But every time I hear "he's close" my stomach turns a bit with anxiety haha

I think this is the crux of the issue...

I doubt LT hasn't done this by the book nor do I believe that MM is unaware of the situation. Little white lies are part of a football manager's makeup.

My total speculation of this is CCFC and Tomlins agent are in a bit of a power play and MM making out that his absence barely registers is all part of the act. He probably is our highest-paid player (or in the top 3) so it is a big deal for the club and if the manager doesn't know the LT situation then he is negligent.

Football managers press conferences possibly have the most untruths per minute than any politicians.

I believe this will be a different story when the window closes.

I believe you’re spot on here and people who think the club can just sack him or people who believe he’s sat at home for two weeks with nobody knowing where he is are naive in the extreme.

McCarthy can spin his answers as well as any manager.

played just about long enough to get a bumper new contract and disappeared.

embarrassing really and a shame. if his head was on his shoulders he'd be a premier league player i guess and we wouldnt have him anyway

LT is a lost cause and isn't even worth talking about. Ryan Giles is our biggest creative outlet and fortunately he is giving his all

Agree totally, Tony; and at a fraction of the cost...

Thankfully, the post-Tomlin era seems a positive one! :ayatollah: :bluebird:
