Cardiff City ran out 3-1 winners against Millwall in the Championship clash, but there were ugly scenes off the pitch, with police and stewards forced to take action

There were ugly scenes between supporters during Cardiff City's clash with Millwall, with police forced to intervene in fights taking place in the away end.

The Bluebirds won the fiery fixture 3-1, with a brace from Aden Flint and a goal from Sean Morrison earning them all three points.

However, during the Championship clash, police and stewards were seen jostling with irate supporters.

It is unclear what sparked the trouble, but right from the off there was a clear divide between both the two sets of players and the two sets of fans, when Cardiff opted to take the knee, only for their opponents to remain standing.

Taking the knee has been booed by Millwall supporters in the opening weeks of the season and manager Gary Rowett recently suggested the movement was ‘causing a rift’.

The 47-year-old said: “Up and down the country I think there are so many football clubs that do such good work in their communities around equality and anti-racism.

“We need the authorities to help clubs out and find a better way to unify people. I don't want to comment on individual people's decision to do that but we just need to find a way to unify people.

“At the moment, you know, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, before a game is just causing such a rift and divide. Football is a great spectacle. We're privileged to be part of it.”

Cardiff boss Mick McCarthy meanwhile confirmed he fully backed the continuation of the knee taking, explaining on Friday: “I have an input on every decision I make. If I didn’t think it was worth respecting, I wouldn’t do it.

“Quite clearly I do and so do the players. I checked with my team and they still wanted to do it. As long as they want to do it, we’ll continue to do it.”

The home supporters at the Cardiff City Stadium backed the taking of the knee with applause, while the end loudly booed.

On the pitch, it was goalless at half-time before central defender Flint picked up where he left off in midweek with another brace, scoring two inside five minutes.

Benik Afobe halved the deficit with 15 minutes to go, before Morrison clinched the victory with a goal in the closing ten minutes.

Remarkably all of Cardiff’s eight goals scored this season have come from headers, with the Welsh side sitting on eight points from four games.

The two sets of supporters have had a longstanding rivalry, which stretches back to the dark days where hooliganism at English football was far more commonplace.

Firstly, a bunch of numpties fighting each other, easy enough to identify a ton of them from the CCTV in the ground I'm sure so anyone who was violent ban them from the ground and let Millwall/police deal with them depending on severity of their actions.

However, what a crock of shite from the Mirror. A complete piece of shite lazy journalism, laced with agenda, designed to re-enforce the BLM narrative.

In case you missed the subtlety of the messaging in the article the basic premise is as follows:

1. Millwall are a bunch of thugs

2. They boo when players take the knee so they are racist (nothing to do with the Marxism stuff you conspiracy loons, honest guv it's just racism pure and simple)

3. Therefore we can now conclude Millwall are a bunch of racist thugs

4. As everyone in polite society knows racist thugs are bad.

5. If you boo taking knee you are also a racist thug (so stop asking questions about the origins of the knee being associated with BLM and definitely don't ask where does all the BLM money go, definitely, 100% don't ask about that)

6. Yep we'll keep it simple. Boo the knee you are a racist thug, just like Millwall. Don't be Millwall. Just be a good obedient prole. Don't ask questions, don't think for yourself. Remember war is peace, diversity is strength, freedom is slavery, trans women are women, and you are guilty of original sin, always.

7. Oh and yeah the score was 3-1 and Cardiff score lots of goals with headers.

They manage to carve out almost 400 words on the assumption that this has something to do with BLM dedicating nearly 300 words to unrelated shite about taking the knee that was regurgitated quotes from elsewhere.

All this while openly stating "It is unclear what sparked the trouble." - but whatever, let's just pop it down as racism yeah.

God forbid anyone died in the fighting but if they did then that would be due to COVID I'm sure.

Journalism in the twenty-first century if something bad happens (and remember nothing good ever happens anymore according to the press)

1. Can was blame racism?
2. If not then it must be down to COVID
3. If that doesn't work either (not seen an example where either 1 or 2 would fail yet) but just in case keep climate change tucked away for special occasions.

Their not even trying anymore, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of journalists were some kind of algorithm now. Don't think we'd notice any difference if they were.

Just to clarify above moan is at the Mirror article not Annis' post
