Mick McCarthy:

"Tommo was poorly earlier on in the week so I’ve not seen him lately."

"I’m not sure if he’s in this morning (Friday). I’ve not seen him or heard from him yet."

“Hopefully he can start getting fit again when he comes in.”

Tomlin is living proof that footballers should have clauses whereby if they don’t play for 90 days they can have their deal reviewed. Hasn’t heard from him? What the f**k.

Of course the PFA will never allow such a thing.

Stealing a living now.

Absolutely appalling attitude from Tomlin, and I sense MM is outraged.

“Doesn’t know if he’s in this morning”? Hasn’t seen or heard from him?

Just how long is this situation going to go on for? ( don’t tell me, I think I know the answer)!

Probably wants to leave with a substantial pay off.

I have said for the last year I have NO Respect for Tomlin and yet there are some who still stick up for him.

In over three and a half years for City 30 starts and a wage of approx £28,000 a week, highest paid player at the club and costing us bringing in another three players.

Tomlin probably has two strategies one he sits on his contract until it runs out or he looks for a large pay off like you suggest. I can't believe for one minute he has an ambition to knuckle down, get fit and contribute towards the team and earn his large wage packet.

Total waster

He will come good at some stage as he will want a new contract like last time.

He will def have to find a new club, I know Mick wanted him gone this summer.

:laughing6: :laughing6: I’ve been thinking the very same thing Annis, so let’s have a little flutter as to when that might be?

I’m going for next February??

i said on here when we signed him, it was a poor decision, as he's never fit, and i was shot down with the "if anyone will get him fit it will be Warnock" and "Warnock knows what he is doing". i have grown to love tomlin, when he plays he is magic, but its just rare to see him play

Contrast that with what he said about Vassell.

I’m not sure the stick works with Tomlin though. Harris was more with the carrot which seemed to work better.

I think your right on all counts, unfortunately Tomlin is, and always has been, what he is.

It’s a big IF, but if Tomlin had the commitment all along, then he would never have joined us in the first case,,, because he would be playing for a top Premiership club, with such technical ability and ball control skill that he possesses. What a waste of talent.

Could'nt mr tan give him a call and tell him what he thinks.

Going on MM comments there I would say his time is up.

He will not get a new contract and most likely the best he can hope for if he wants to continue playing is a loan move somewhere.

Some still want him to stay because on his day he can change a game. Even so, his most supportive fan must start doubting him now.

I thought the same not so long ago. Tomlin would magically get fit play a blinder and earn a new contract on the wave of fans demanding that he stays.

However, I have now changed my mind. I think Tomlin realises that no matter how good he might play this season MM will not fall for the same trick twice.

He now looks like a player looking for a pay off allowing him to join another club and steal a living offer them.

I was hoping he’d sort himself at least to make a few appearances (from the bench) this season but it seems that isn’t going to happen. Either way, there’s no way I’d be giving a new contract, whatever the terms!!

Sounds like Mick is as pissed off about the situation as we all are.

Can't wait until Tomlin leaves the club.

your correct in that his fitness has never been at a level you would consider a footballers should be...
but it hasnt stopped managers signing him in the hope they could get a bit more out of him...or in fact playing him at various degrees of fitness.... nearly 500 professional appearances is not to be sniffed at...yet ive not seen one picture of him at any club where he actually looks fit....
agree with Rick in that had been properly fit throughout his career he wouldnt ever have been here....

Re: ' LEE TOMLIN "

If Neil Harris or a Dave Jones was our manager I reckon Tomlin would be fit enough. The issue for me is whether Lee Tomlin would ever be fit enough and do enough defensive work for MM ?

I was surprised Warnock bought him, with hindsight some of NW’s transfers were strange, but he did fancy himself to turn around these under performers, this one never worked out.

I guess that even if LT could knock out some of his best training statistics it still wouldn’t be good enough for MM. 3 defeats in 25 says MM methods work.

We are going to have to pay him to leave, it’s the sad truth. If £28K is correct then that’s around £1.2 million to the end of his contract. If we gave him £500k sweetener then we “save” £700K.

I believe MM is playing hardball with LT demonstrating how unimportant he is to him/us. A year in the U23’s will not help LT get a contract next year, if he wants one. If he wants to retire at 33 then he wins.

If he is still with us after the deadline I expect he’ll be a sub because a fit (by his standards) LT is still one hell of a championship player, albeit a very expensive £/min one!

Surely if MM hasn't heard from him, or he hasn't turned for training then he's in breach of contract? Be one good way of getting shot of him. Patience worn out with him now.

Re: ' LEE TOMLIN "

Another full thread of loyal fans basically calling him a useless unfit waste of space, any man with anything about them would get themselves fit and show us what he can do and prove us wrong.

But has Tomlin got anything about him, and is he actually capable of putting an effort in, unfortunately I don't think he has?

Tomlin over to you ?????????????????????????????

Re: ' LEE TOMLIN "

Mick says he hasn't seen Tommo lately but Tomlin can clearly be seen at training yesterday on the video on the Club website. Mick was at that session so I don't know how he can say that. Tomlin was filmed sprinting a couple of times. He didn't look ill to me. It's a mystery!

If players are not fit to play they should be asked to help out in other ways. Stick him in the ticket office or selling programmes. He would soon be knocking on MM door saying "boss I think i am up for it this week"! :laughing6:

It’s rather telling that joe Bennett doesn’t even have a contract with us but still training, wearing city kit, all after a serious injury and this is all within a few months of doing it.
